I'm sure plenty on here are just as excited as I am for this tournament. Every 4 years I'm completely blown away by how this thing turns out. Here is a little fun to get some banter started: http://eurobracket.foxsports.com/foxsoccer/clienthome.do league name: RSL Suporters (yeah, I misspelled it, bite me) password: kylebeckerman Spain is the easy choice, but I wouldn't be surprised to see the Germans remind everyone just how good they are.
For all the italiani, Forza Italia! And if they fail to advance to the knock-out rounds, Forse Italia? For the francophones, Allez les Bleus!
well, welcome to poland and ukraine Every country has morons like these - especially in Eastern Europe. Hopefully this is taken care of during the tournament. I'd hate to see something happen at a Portugal game, for example, simply because the players have a different color skin
that didnt last long, video already removed. im just hoping that womens activist group pulls off the mega-streaking attack like they were talking about. that might spice things up a bit.
woooooowwww. i had no idea it was THAT, openly, bad there. that's some crazy ass shit. i especially love how they point out that it's the Ukranians that are responsible for player and fan safety, lol, good luck with that. their own chief of police flat out denies the open hitler salutes "ohhh, no, they're not racist, they're just pointing at the other team"........are you ********ing kidding me? this is definitely going to be an interesting Euro tournament. that sort of racism is absolutely horrifying.
its the beginning of what will probably be some really interesting, culturally, soccer tournaments. Euro 2012 - shown here. violence, anti-Semitic, racism, naked ladies protesting sex trade (how this makes sense is still beyond me), etc WC 2014 - Brazil has violence issues. Not too much racism (its existant everywhere, sadly) but their fans have little to no respect for authority WC2018 - Russia. They have some of the same eastern European fascist ideals. The sex trafficking there is disturbing. Vodka + crazy fans + mafia presence = one ********ed up month. WC2022 - Qatar is, well, Qatar. Not much I need to say besides if you aren't of their clan, watch out. Way to go FIFA. Maybe you are all tricking us and making the world a better place by bringing our attention to these issues and forcing the locals to deal with them... no, wait, that's a gigantic bag of money being carried by 15 hookers and a mountain of cocaine in a dump truck behind you. Nevermind
If I were a soccer hooligan going to Qatar in 2022 every single day I'd dress up like the Clash and re-enact scenes from "Rocking the Casbah" video, substituting Sepp and whoever else for the Sheik.
I've been to that low-rent, third world country and there ain't any camels running around. The Qataris have too much money to waste on travelling by camels. No, they drive giganitc, H3 Hummer-sized SUVs. Camels are for bedouins and idiot Western tourists to ride.
I am chatting online right now with a friend in Qatar. It seems like a pretty awesome place, actually. I wouldn't mind visiting someday.
Dude, it's not Saudi Arabia. I have a friend in SA and that place is pretty much the armpit of the earth, as far as I can tell. Especially for women. Things are slightly more progressive in Qatar. I have a gal friend who visited there recently and said it was cool and wouldn't mind going back. Edit: but they did make her and her boyfriend get separate hotel rooms... not quite as progressive as some places.
Planning a trip to Egypt next year. I'll take Egypt over any of the other places in the Middle East. Mostly because I have a bunch of adoring young friends who are excited to show me around, but also because Egypt is both progressive and fascinating. (Crossing my fingers for the political climate to be conducive to tourism...)
When it comes to the middle east, been there, done that, got the t-shirt. If your friend likes Qatar, she would go to Dubai. She will never want to go back to Qatar.
