I take it he is not a DP? If he isn't is it going to impact our search for one? Aside from that I'm glad we signed a quick, technical guy instead of another target forward. Gonna go and try to find some game film with him.
Better than the one goal between our two starters so far this season. Make them all compete for a starting spot.
That's about the level of player we can expect if he's in his prime and doesn't have personality defects.
We now have three international forwards with only 2 starting spots. No one's job is safe. That's motivation.
I won't be impressed until the guy scores a goal, creates a goal and doesn't act like a total jerk after either. Until then, he's Mendoza 2.0.
This. And if we bring in DP at forward, that makes it 3 guys for 1 spot. The proverbial match has been lit to put a fire under their asses. Just hope he's good enough to honestly compete for a starting spot.
Jairo Arrieta is mediocre as a player at best, he also carries a bit of a cheap shot artist reputation. Dont really see how/why you guys would be interested in him. Saprissa fans seem relieved to see him leave.
Sounds like a Crew pick up. Oh great, we might as well put in a transfer order for Teofilio Gutierrez of Racing Club in Argentina so we have a cheap shot artist competition.
Damn! We play New England on the 16th I guess he'll have to wait until September to elbow Heaps in the face.
We still have Vargas. Someone needs to explain to Jay Heaps that it is not actually intended to be rude or malicious, it is just the traditional Costa Rican greeting....when meeting Jay Heaps.
Not that you know of. Next time on Finding Your Roots - With Henry Louis Gates Jr. DRWCrew gets to the bottom of his desire for traditional Costa Rican greetings.
Even though NYRB made our defense look like the JV squad our defense isn't bad. And Vukovic made the back four better. Scoring has been our problem. I like Vargas, Renteria, and Schoenfeld for what they are, but the team needs a truly skilled finisher. I am at least encouraged that the Crew brain trust has identified as the offense as where the team's greatest need is. Hopefully Arrieta works out. As has been stated, he needs to show us. And don't predict Mendoza 2.0! that is some bad juju! bleh! I am also encouraged that we are still in search of another attacking player as a designated player.
I'm not sold that it is our biggest problem yet. Our midfield has only had one appearance this season, so there has been an honest lack of possession through the middle and movement to create space for the striker. Route 1 football as your only option makes defending easier.
So, basically, we DID just resign Andy Herron? At least we know this much: Bliss LOVES to vacay in Costa Rica.
