$43 additional dollars to get there in a little over an hour is well worth it in my opinion. There isnt even a question. You could probably get a rental car for less than $50 too.
So ... WHO STILL WANTS TO GO TO THE ROYALS GAME THAT FRIDAY NIGHT!? *crickets* Go out and experience the sights, sounds, and eats of Chicago. Ignore that trainwreck of a team. Unless U.S. Cellular Field is in some way on a bucket list of yours.
I'll probably still go to that game, since one of my Chicago friends is a big fan of the White Sux. Personally, I don't care either way, but I haven't seen her in about 5 years or so, so it'll be worth it.
You're more dedicated than me. I was thinking of going to the game Friday night, but now I'll probably just eat my weight in deep dish pizza, drink my weight in bourbon, and hit up some blues joints.
I just found out that I am 99% certain I will be free that day but went to go get my ticket and it says it closed April 20th. Is there a chance they may be opening up some more or extending it? Edit: I tried it anyway and it didn't give me an error message or anything. It thanked me for reserving a ticket. Odd.
That 99% chance just went to 0 in a matter of seconds. No sooner than I reserved my ticket, my wife emailed me to say her sister's college graduation is that day. FML
Somewhere, Nick Hornby twitches, and begins a cold-sweat. "But it gets harder and harder, and sometimes hurting someone is unavoidable.... Once I realized there was a conflict of interest, there was the usual brief panic... and then I phoned her with a heavy heart and told her what had happened. I was hoping for a laugh and absolution, but I got neither, and from the sound of her voice, from the disappointment and tired impatience it contained, I understood that I wasn't going to. Instead she said one of those awful things, 'You must do what you think is right,' or 'You must do what you want to do,' something like that; one of those chilling deliverances designed to find you out...."
Eh, apparently I need to pay more attention to the away ticket process. Looks like I have to wait for the $15/per tickets to open up now? Is there a limit on how many of those they sell?
Funny. It was open yesterday morning even though it said it was supposed to close April 20th. If you only need one maybe I can cancel mine since I'm not going now.
My guess is most of you saw, but Sean posted on thefacebook thurs night we need something like 30 more people to fill the second bus to Chicago. Not exactly sure how it works, but if they dont get that 30, there may be people who are SOL on bus #2. (?) (Ok, I kinda bashed fb on a different thread and feel slightly guilty about it).
It'll get done, I know of at least 3 people in my group and an additional 2 that are thinking about it.
If they can't pay tomorrow but are 100% committed tomorrow, email Sean if you can. We're getting the full list. It's coming together, but we need everyone to do some last second pleading to commit. Thanks!
The wife isn't going, so I now am undecided. I have my plane ticket and hotel room. I don't know why I am hesitating, since I usually go alone to the home games.
Lebowski- you'll be among kindred SKC fans. Take that plane tic and hotel room. We'll see you at the tailgate Saturday afternoon!
You'll be with friends, we're basically all family. This trip is going to be epic, not on the same scale of Van/PDX, but for the sheer amount of people we will have. When I first joined, we weren't even able to get numbers like the Vancouver game for Chicago. Maybe a handful of people would drive up. Now well over 300 from my last hearing? Gonna be amazing.
Ok, I'm in. Does anyone have an extra ticket that they got from SKC that they are not going to use? I sent an email to Sam to see if he had any. Otherwise, I'll just get one from the Fire website for or find one at the gate.
Yeah, I still need to figure out if the whole 'if you're on the bus, you have a ticket' thing is still at work. Booked my sister a bit later than I wanted, well after the tickets ran out.
Ugh, my train was supposed to be in Chicago tomorrow at 3:15pm. It keeps getting delayed, and we're currently not going to be getting there until 8:35. At the rate they keep moving it back, I could easily be looking at a 8 to 10 hour delay here.
