Saw it as i was flipping by and I turned it on with about 6 minutes left in the game. Saw Rochester tie it up late and then the winner from D'Amigo. Looked like a full house, guess this is what it's come to for us

Marlies swept their best of 5 series with Rochester. Jerry D'Amigo scored 5 times in the 3 games. At 5'11" and 215 with strong skating and a willingness to go to the net i think this kid has the makings of a really good 3rd line winger. He also led the US in scoring at the WJC a few years back.

He lead the US in goals (tied with Chris Kreider) but Derek Stepan lead the team in points.

Yeah he was great for us that year. 6 goals, 6 assists, 12 points. He was a key goalscorer for that team, two goals in the semifinal, game tying and late shorthanded insurance goal, game winning goal against Finland, goal against Canada. 5 of his 6 goals were in the knockout games, which is crazy to think about since the US scored 26 goals in the group stage, 6.5 per game! Clutch

Weird stat that I can't figure out. Both he and Krieder had 6 goals, but Kreider had 3 power play goals and D'Amigo had 0.

For whatever reason he was not great the next year. Only 2 points, one goal against Germany and one assist vs Switzerland.

Reading on Twitter Leafs prospect Tyler Biggs is leaving Miami (OH) University hockey and will either be with the Marlies or go to OHL with Oshawa Generals.

Frattin out for the final as he's having knee surgery. Big loss.

I think it's absolutely amazing the Marlies are in the final having lost only 2 games. I have watched about half the games and they've looked solid.

One name that doesn't get mentioned much is Mark Fraser who was acquired from Anaheim (former NJD) at the trade deadline. He's probably the top D-man for the Marlies these playoffs and he's still only 26 and could provide quality depth for the Leafs/Marlies next season (is he a UFA? if re-signed?) .

Well no better time than now to start the new Leafs thread about the new season. I guess looking at what we have so far the line-up looks something like this I guess

    Forwards:

    Lupul-Bozak-Kessel
    JVR-Garbo-Kulemen
    MacArthur-McClement-Kadri
    Brown-Steckel-Frattin

    Extra's - Connolly, Lombardi,

    Defence:

    Phaneuf-Gunnarsson
    Liles-Gardner
    Komi-?????

Well, if the rumour mill is to be believed of late - we could get Luongo

    BTW - awesome thread title.

I know he would improve our team big time but that contract is just poison, I still think he will end up back in Florida with the Panthers. I know some were rumors of Bozak+Kadri+3rd round pick.

According to many new sources Brian Burke has been fired, can't say I am too disappointed as he really didn't improve anything with the team but the timing of this is strange to say the least. Thinking a bust up over a potential deal for a certain goalie?

These clowns are clueless. Watch, Carlyle will be a lame duck coach (no pun intended) for whichever suit the MLSE dumbshits put in place.

I just heard that Burke is still a "senior advisor" with the team, whatever that means. If you're going to fire him, cut ALL TIES with him. If you didn't like how he was managing the team, don't let him advise the current group on how to do it.

Ok, I'm gonna backtrack from this a bit. Looks like Nonis will be given a fair shake and this was a political thing between Burke and the new owners.

There was some speculation that this was a disagreement over willingness to make the Luongo trade, but that doesn't seem to jibe based on comments from both managers that they were/are willing to deal for Luongo.

The strange thing around this is the timing, which I still can't figure.

So is Fletcher - FWIW - it seems the Leafs just remove/change titles instead of outright cutting them loose.

Leafs traded Lombardi to the Yotes for a 4th round draft pick. Good move by Nonis to get rid of some dead weight and free up some cap space moving forward.

Any chance that Leonid Komarov cracks the opening day lineup? He was putting up pretty nice numbers in the KHL, and I think he is trying to win a place on the Leafs' roster. Also, there was some talk of JvR playing centre...any truth to this?

Many believe Komarov will be in the opening night roster on the 4th line with Brown and McClement and be used as a energy guy who will log PK minutes as well. There was rumors of the coach was going to try it but Randy said as of right now he won't be starting the season as a center but things change with players moving out and injuries.

Also news today that the Leafs have put Connolly on waivers which isn't surprising after seeing Lombardi traded away last night. Both guys are over-paid and with the club wanting to play of the youth these are moves to make room for the likes of Frattin, Kadri, Ashton etc.

    Great title for the thread!!

Connolly on waivers looks like Kadri will finally get a shot for the time being. Although, i do think he's on a tight leash with Carlyle. After Kardi's hat trick in in training, Carylye didn't praise him...saying he was ineffective in the 2nd/3rd period.

Morgan will will likely stay for 5 games as Jake recovers from his concussion. There seems to be a lot of hype around him and i hope after 5 games he goes back to the Marlies. I don;t want us to pull another Schenn and shatter the kids confidence. Also, not wasting a year on his entry level contract for a 48 game season.
