Hear Hear! The field is very well-manicured grass. That's reason enough to prefer it to Stade Olympique. Now a renovated Stade Saputo is another story...
Ah, yes, Olympic Stadium... memories of Tim Raines, Andre Dawson, Warren Cromartie, Tim Wallach, Gary Carter, Dennis Martinez, Dick Williams, Tim Raines, Andre Dawson, Tim Raines and Andre Dawson... and a retractible roof that wasn't... a first for both the engineered intent and the reality of said debacle... and for those of us old enough to remember: a 50-yd blast by the Chicago Sting's Ingo Peter (GOOOOOOAAAAAALLLLLLL!) vs. Le Manic de Montreal. Here's another crazy idea (it just might take one to get this deal done)... I say crazy because it became REALITY in Chicago: Gut the interior, keep an exterior wall or two... and keep RFK... (yes, I realize this increases the cost about three-fold, but it's not my money).
And don't forget the cost of relocating the racoons. Yeah, but "Bush" anything is a bad name for a stadium, it just invites those "bush league" comments. And Reagan has enough stuff named after him already.
Man...I really wish I just remembered Bruce Jenner for winning the decathlon and getting his pre-surgical mug onto Wheaties boxes...
At the risk of veering this tightly policed thread off-topic I was in the room as my wife turned on some Kardashian product. I looked up and saw Bruce's surgically hideous face. I LITERALLY had no idea that he was the paterfamilias of that clown show. Of course, the best thing that about being old is you stop caring about how out of touch you are. In my mind Bruce Jenner is still thundering along in the decathlon 1500m ... and I am still rocking out to Van Halen and The Cars in my Chrysler Laser (94 hp? ... seemed like at least 100!). Of course I didn't fall for soccer until later (and my car is now a 3-series BMW) so not all change is bad. Back to your regularly scheduled discussions of the construction progress at Gravelly Point.
Yeah, it's just an awful place. It's only hosted three MLS Cup finals, group stage matches for the Atlanta Games in 1996, more US mens' and womens' competitive matches and friendlies than I can remember, and only the greatest goddamn club in the Americas and their trophy case. Not to mention a certain baseball team that I wish you a-holes would take back.

Hey, that baseball team is 9-3 and in first place. We need all the winning teams we can get in this city!
Even with $2 tickets (not including fees), it was pretty lonely out there last night. There weren't even many Houston fans. Of course it was still likely double the attendance United will get tonight...
The Nats announced14,520 Wednesday night, DCU claimed 10,135. I suspect neither was being completely honest.
They might have been if they were talking about tickets sold, rather than actual attendance at the stadium. If the Nats keep playing well, their attendance numbers will go up substantially once the weather improves.
