For me, too old. But he is truly a legend.

His free kick from this past weekend--in his in his 700th appearance for Juventus. A winning goal that puts Juve at the top of Serie A after trailing Milan for months.

The whole stadium thought he was going right and he placed it over the wall into the left side netting. Fantastic strike.

Hi, I'm new here an I have trying to set my lineup for FIFA 2009. Is it better if Babayaro is on the left mid or in defense?

I don't want him. Same as I don't want a traitor like Giuseppe Rossi playing for LA.

I severely dislike Rossi but wouldn't it be great to have him on our team and everyone hate us even more? It would be a perfect fit. The most hated team with the most hated player.

I could look past my problems with him just to see it ruffle feathers.

You know, every once in a while I wonder why I still root for the Gs. I moved back home six years ago. Every other sports team in LA, except for my Trojans, I either despise (pre- and post-Mattingly Dodgers), or am indifferent to (Lakers, Clippers, Kings).

Thanks for reminding me why I'm a Galaxy fan, and why I will be until I shuffle off this mortal coil. I love this team. And the rest of the league's hate is delicious.

If he were healthy, Giuseppe Rossi would most likely be Italy's first choice striker at the moment -- ahead of the likes of Balotelli, (a healthy) Cassano, Di Natale, Quagliarella, or Matri.

And if he's not, he should be.

And he's already worn the armband for Italy at least once last year.

    That's four-time World Champion Italy.

    Just sayin'.

But the US defeated them on their home soil, so clearly Rossi made the wrong choice. ;)

I don't care how good he is; New York can have him, but I wouldn't want traitors on my team.

If he does sign with LA it will be worse than The Big One from my perspective.

This is why every MLS team should avoid him.

He turns 38 this year and he's no longer capable of running for 90 minutes at a time.

Sorrowfully, Raul is leaving Schalke, but possibly moving to MLS? Doesn't Galaxy get dibs on former Madrid players?

I hope so. We need more star power. And chemistry.

Okay who would you drop for Raul? Beckham, Donovan or Keane would have to leave.

ADP is tearing it up as a sub at Juve. With all due respect to the MLS, he would murder the opposition. At least for a couple of more years.

    I don't doubt that's true, in a limited capacity.

But it's more a question of what bringing such a huge name to the club means, both in terms of finances, chemistry and squad rotation.

At Juve, he's playing a very specific and very limited role at the moment. But you bring him to LA and it's a wildly different dynamic. Fans and the media would expect him on the pitch all the time.

And I'm not putting this on ADP--I think he's always been a class act and I can't remember much Diva behavior from him in his storied career. Even when he was struggling for Italy and sometimes overlooked he was always proud to be selected. (I was so unbelievably happy for him when scored that goal against Germany in the '06 Semis and you could see how much that meant to him.)

And he just wants to play -- I'm pretty sure his new autobiography is called "Keep Playing." I know he would be a great asset on the pitch--and of course I'd love to see him score in an LA shirt.

But thinking about the big picture for the club, if I had a vote I'd vote against it.

I also think that because he's surrounded with, generally, much better players at Juve, he can be more of a specialist, he has players around him of such ability that his limited role can thrive, he doesn't have to do as much dirty work as he'd have to do in MLS. Much more would be asked of him in MLS, as a result, he'd get pulled away from the best part of his game.

Perfect post! (except the last sentence :D )I, too, was beside myself with happiness when he scored that goal in Gremany.

    + rep, sir.

If we didn't have the silly salary cap I would be all for him, but due to cost and the role he would have to play at his age I am not big on it.

The next DP LA needs to sign is a younger up and coming player rather than an older one, we need more speed in our squad, especially in a winger. Of course Ronaldo would be nice too :p we won't have him for another 5 years tho

Kinda exciting news...I was talking to a friend of mine today about soccer in general. We started talking about his favorite team (Juventus) and del Piero coming to MLS. He heard that del Piero only wants to come to LA or NY (no surprise there). But then he started talking about how his friend was a building manager and back at the beginning of the year, some guy claiming to represent a player from Real Madrid (wouldnt reveal who it was) was looking for a place to stay for a possible move to LA (didn't specify Galaxy or Chivas...but really, it has to be the Galaxy). Any guesses? Weren't there rumors of Kaka coming? It's good to know that the FO is making a great effort to bring big names to the team. Too bad we can only have 3 DPs.

hahaha. I was thinking to myself that if a big name player really did want to come join the Galaxy, MLS would most likely change the DP rules. Good for the league, good for us. Win-win situation! Then again, we'd be the most hated team in the league...same old same old
