doesn't seem like enough folks interested this year for a weekly game thread, so maybe a running discussion of results will do.

a home draw to millwall is not a great start, but it seems this team has started slow for the last few years, so not surprising really, especially considering a wembley-loss hangover is probably understandable.

big match away to Leicester this weekend. they seem to be improving under SGE finally- i'd take a point this early in the season for sure.

come on you royals-i've got a $50 bet this year with some of me english mates! we're all in a 'league within the league' bet- CL format w/ 8 other teams (Forest, Southampton, Millwall, Palace, Doncaster, B'ham, and Leeds) and 2 goals at home to millwall does not help... oh well its a long season.

just saw that we made an offer to Sonko to return since he's no longer with Stoke, but he turned it down as the $$ wasn't good enough.

Fantastic win today. Considering everything surrounding this game with Mills and Shane Long against the odds on favorite to win the league, I expected no points going to Leicester. It sounded like we completely dominated the game with great goals from Hunt and HRK. We moved up to 5th now!:D

No lie- this kid Manset has been a revelation. 2 goals off the bench last week and an assist today. Looks like he tired early though, getting subbed off later on. Maybe Leicester aren't as good as everybody thinks they are.

A bad run of form recently. Losses at Fratton Park, at the Madejski against relegation fodder Barnsley and in the Carling Cup at Charlton.

The team had brought in Joseph Mills, the now departed Matt Mills younger brother, and Kaspars Gorkss from QPR to shore up the defense which has looked very shaky with the new CB pairing of Khumalo, on loan from Tottenham, and Pearce. Gorkss should be a godsend for us to shore up what has been a very shaky defense so far. I feel we need to pick up one more player, an established striker, to give our attack more teeth now that Long is off to West Brom. Will Madejski make that one more purchase? Stay tuned we only have a handful of days to find out.

    *Bump*

Well, well, well, seems like I asked the same question last year as this year, can Reading maintain their playoff position?

Royals in 3rd right now, with a nice winning streak, and Reading have locked in McDermott through 2015. Promotion coming?:)

Reading have followed the usual script- though maybe have peaked a lttle early. However if they can keep this run going and Hammers or Saints stumble automatic promotion would be awesome. The playoffs are unpredictable for sure- especially with strong teams like Boro, Blackpool, and B'ham.

It's gonna be a great finish!

Congrats Reading..... talk about kicking ass and taking names in the last 4 months. Correct me if I am wrong: in the last 16 games: 15 wins and 1 tie. Wow! That is a 97% points rate. Absurd.

    I know...what a great run...congrats to Reading!

With Wolverhampton going down, think Kevin Doyle will return to Reading?

Looking forward to going to the bar and being one of 2 Reading fans watching a game vs ManU, maybe we'll get a few more fans.....

I have been sympathetic to the Royals for years. They won a soft spot in my heart for their rise to "Premiership," as your TV presenters insist on calling the (Whoever Has Paid Much Lately) Premier League. Especially since they did so with Americans contributing. At that time, only the very best Americans would have been bought by a top-flight side upon promotion. But we had Americans contributing to the rise. Plus, the story for you lot on the other side - an ancient club rising to the top flight - was great stuff.

It seemed a better team to adopt from over here than claiming one of the London or Birmingham or Manchester clubs because I liked the shirt or whatever international superstar they happened to have on hand.

I won't pretend to be among the company of those who were Reading fans prior to the new millenium, but most English Reading fans are not honestly in such company either. Nonetheless, I am happy opportunities to watch them will be more common on this side of the pond next season.

So, with all adopted fervor, Go Royals (nee something to do with cookies ("biscuits")!
