He did the falling leaf on the keeper. Very Henry-esque.

Well since everyone is on the keeper debate, is there anyone head and shoulders above Chesney as a keeper? Out of the top 3 id say he is only just behind Hart, and would have to be superior to De Gea.

Diaby is quality. He hasn't had the opportunity to prove himself yet because of injuries. Trust me....Diaby is going to have a explosive season like RVP if he could stay fit.

Don't we have Arteta to do these responsibilities?

Ramsey has been mediocre in fulfilling his role. Perhaps, he is a good squad player......but that's about it. There are much better options in our current squad and elsewhere too. Seriously, I rather have a midfield of Wilshere, Diaby, Arteta and Song than add Ramsey in the mix. Maybe let him play in small matches...definitely not against bigger teams.

I have a hard time picking a favorite in the EPL right now. Krul, Vorm, Sczcesny, Friedel, Hart, and even DDG -- all pretty good.

I was in the North Bank behind the goal when Henry dinked in a PK against Shay Given when we were playing Newcastle.

I'm surprised Arsene hasn't protected Ramsey more this season. But I thought he finally started to show signs of finding a bit of form. It shows our horrible depth that Ramsey hasn't been rotated more this season. Thank god for Rosicky's resurgence.

He's 26. At some point, you have to cut a guy loose - he's like the pitcher for a baseball team who you know has all the talent in the world, but has so many arm issues that you can't keep him on the payroll any longer. Especially at 3 million a year.

    1. We have Arteta play a lot deeper than Ramsey does - Ramsey's the furthest forward of the midfield three, and that's the hardest of the midfield roles to play in, IMO. That's the reason we had JFW playing deeper and why Fabregas's role moved higher and higher up the pitch as he progressed - the requirements in terms of spatial awareness, speed of thought, technique, and execution are really intense in the "just in front of the back four" role. Ramsey's got the speed of thought, the vision, and the technique to play the role - the only questions that I've got are whether he can consistently execute, and whether he's got the awareness of where defenders are. And the only way we're going to know if he can is if he gets playing time.

    2. This playing time has to be at Arsenal - no other team plays this way, and so Ramsey can only really learn to play the "Fabregas" role here.

    3. The only other players we have on the team to play that role are Rosicky (who is 32), and JFW (who's coming back from being out for a year with injury). Arteta's always played much deeper, and Diaby simply doesn't have the speed of thought or awareness to get rid of the ball quickly enough to be effective in that role. We've all been furious at how easily Diaby gets caught in possession at times.

    4. Players who would be a viable replacement in that role will cost at least 20 million. And that would be cheap, and wages become an issue at that level.

So basically, Ramsey's going to play in this role for the foreseeable future. It's going to be really frustrating (and watching young players frequently is) at times, so here's hoping the growing pains are shorter than usual and that he comes good.

This is a nice post that makes most of the relevant points. I'm going to try to remember to come back and rep it when I'm not on my phone.

Ramsey is such and interesting case study in fandom. The rate at which this guy creates chances puts him in very exclusive company in Europe already.

    At 21.

Having missed more than a year of development due to a career-theatening injury.

I just don't understand how anybody could've watched this match and then criticize him. 91% pass completion. Completed more passes in the final third than any other player, and more than all Wolves players combined. Haven't seen the official stat, but I believe he led the game in chances created, as well.

This guy could be the 2nd best creator in the world in 2 years, and we've got Arsenal fans saying he's 'not good enough.'

no, he isn't. diaby has AMAZING physical tools but he doesn't have the game in his head. he doesn't see those passes that is needed from the string puller. he is the same kind of central attacking midfielder that nasri is (not a thing wrong with that, by the way) where he is the focal point of the attack and making plays for himself where our system requires playmaking, creating and string-pulling duties first and, if the opportunity arises, goal scoring second.
ummm, no. mebe is far more eloquent than i can be in his respose but, to put it in simpler terms, ramsey was playing where fabregas was last season and arteta is playing where wilshere was. so, no, we don't have arteta to do those responsiblities. that fabregas(/bergkamp) role is not exactly an easy spot to play.
uh, he hasn't been mediocre. before december, he was doing a darn solid job when he's been played at his best position (the attacking central midfield role formerly belonging to fabregas). he's looked like crap if/when he's played in middle role that is/was wilshere/arteta and he's looked poor since the start of the year when he's been worn down (in fact, i can just about pinpoint when he started to show wear: the last game of CL group stage) but, before that, he was doing a solid job, especially for a young player coming off a long layoff to replace somebody like fabregas.

    Two theories:

    1) He's off the grid this weekend?

    2) He wants to prevent people from making too many speculative/negative posts prior to the match? ;)
