did he?!? good for him. i wondered about that. the sky replay only showed van persie (and, especially, how pissed off he was) and rosicky was coming in behind ramsey so i could see them. they didn't show oxlade-chamberlain but i wondered about him since he was even with ramsey and absolutely wide open even before van persie got there on the follow.
Wow! It's pretty unusual to see all of your teammates (at least the 3 that are visible in this clip) show so much disgust at your decision/execution. I already knew that Ramsey was really having a tough time this year with his play. But this clip makes me think that his teammates have lost patience with him and that he lacks their support. Sad. Someone recently suggested it's time for Aaron to go out on loan again. Hmm. But realistically this wouldn't happen until mid next season so I guess Wenger & Ramsey will have to figure something out before then.
yeah, I think you are reading WAAAAAAAAAY too much into this one clip. I read somewhere else and its an interesting point, Ramsey was doing ok until Gary Speed killed himself. I wonder how much that has affected his form? That and Arsenal fans have an outrageously high expectation for all young players to step in and be great. I wouldnt be surprised if Jack loses his form big time next season as well and a lot of the same calls for him to be loaned out, etc get mentioned by a lot of fans. Lets just have some patience.
Yes. I made pretty much the same gesture the Ox did -- because we missed out on a goal, not because I was pissed at Aaron for not passing. Frustration does not equal blame.
Ramsey's miss was not any worse than that of Yossi's and TV5's after Theo's attempt. The bloody goal was wide open in front of them. Yet, no one complains about those. Seems like Ramsey is a child of a lesser God. Just like Song was a few years ago.
Still love how Wojciech almost drank that beer right in front of Balotelli. Funny take on Arsenal/Man C game (towards the 2nd minute)
Sorry if this has made the rounds already, but it's hilarious http://thechive.com/2012/04/11/manc...-cant-figure-out-how-to-put-on-a-shirt-video/
y'know, i never even connected that but the timing is right. i don't think loaning out is all that necessary. i think he's just a kid who was fatigued into being out of form and, now that he's out of the first eleven, has that same desperation to be spectacular and score goal that bendtner would have when he was out of the starting eleven for awhile. ramsey should be fine next year.
I think Ramsey's play has been fine, it's just his finishing that's been awful. But he's a midfielder on his first full season back from injury.
actually, significantly different. 1) vermaelen (and, subsequently, benayoun) did not have 2 open teammates next to them with open goalmouth. 2) they were, more or less on goal (vermaelen's sliced and was questionable but there were bodies in the way) as oppose to being in row zed.
he is turning into denilson. slow decision making.. sideways to backwards passing... poor decision making. rosicky will spin, find a guy upfield, and attempt to break down the defense with running/passing. the confidence in front of goal is nearing chamakh.
TBF, Rosicky went through a similar period when goals did not come. I think Ramsey will start scoring. He is missing some shots and looks like his confidence is low at the moment. Not unexpected given his age, lack of experience and where he has been (to hell and back). I think he will be a very good MF for us. I hope he gets another season or two to prove himself. Cesc set the bar very high for those that follow.
Agreed. On finishing, specifically, at the outset it's more important to be getting yourself into the position where you can actually finish. And AR's shown that plenty this season. He looks like he's missing the chances by a mile, but really it's a matter of inches. The last chance against City, he was trying to curl it and it's difference of inches on where you contact the ball. The next step of actually finishing, doesn't come easy—you have to work hard at it but it's better than being absolutely useless and not even getting yourself into position to score (I'm glancing in your direction Samir Nasri).
Absolutely! I only wish I had a quarter for every time I've seen a player have a beer on the pitch just after FT.
It's not the miss, it's that he should have passed to the much more wide open RVP to kill the game off. The shot was not an easy one for that angle, that's why the play there IMO was to pass and pass earlier in the move. He dithered and then got caught essentially. But I don't think he had a bad game overall.
Real Talk: Ball State Guy had a better delivery this guy. Oh no. Also he'd better hope the DMCA-police doesn't come knocking on his door.
it's not the miss or the lack of goals. ramsey has shown, time and again, that he can score. i think he's going to be exceptional at the (former) fabregas spot. it is, as blackhornet said, the fact that he opted to shoot instead of laying the ball off to much more open teammates that reminds me of how bendtner played when he would be out of the lineup for a time that annoys me. as well as the fact that, since about december, when he receives the ball, his head is down and he is taking at least one or two extra touches that are killing timing and breaks. he used to have his head up to look for the pass to get us forward (and i suspect that, with some time off, next season, he will again). of course, if he does do the olympic thing, he'll be missing quite a bit of preparation and rest time.
That's part and parcel of Wenger's philosophy to his players: that you have to have the utmost belief in yourself and in the fact that your team will prevail that day. Ramsey had every right to take that shot, the decision wasn't bad—just the execution. Did other options exist? Sure, but I think you want a guy who wants to be The Man. And not in a negative way like Balotelli does.
