Are striped bass hatchlings soccer fans? Are fans of striped bass hatchlings soccer fans? No? Then this is almost certainly never going to happen either.
Pretty intimidating atmosphere for visiting teams. Seats in the top row of the stands are a quarter of a mile from the field.
As someone who put 1 or 2 balls in the Hudson River at Pier 40 (when it was set up with a field where the trapeze school is now) that place would be a nightmare for me. Or for just about anyone, really. Do they have kayakers patrolling the water like McCovey Cove?
This is analogous to the Rooney rule in the NFL where minority candidates interview for head coaching jobs they know they won't get just to have the opportunity to hone their skills, get their name out there, and get their rap and pitch in order. They hope going through the process will help them when they interview for more realistic opportunities in the future. MLS will make their pitch probably their first outside of some conference room with midlevel managers at City Hall. They'll meet with the kinds of folks they'll have to convince in the future and try out their pitch. They'll evaluate their presentation and see which aspects peaked interest and which had folks holding back laughter. They hope the somewhat public process to be repeated dozens of times in the future will show resolve to the City as they move to the next step in the process, get coverage in the soccer underground, and continue the process of disrupting attempts by our team to build our fanbase. For Garber a useful venture all around no matter how it turns out. The chances of actually building here are negligible.
I'm pretty sure it would be more intimidating for any visiting players who still didn't know how to swim.
Hotbed of soccer is here.. Flushing Meadows Park in Queens. Easy to get to via highway, #7 subway and lots of buses . Lots of parking to boot.
If they build a stadium, I can see a pedestrian bridge being built so folk can access Pier 40 without having to cross the West Side Highway as well as the new West Side Greenway. Hell, go the Ajax Stadium rout and build the stadium over the West Side Highway!
I read that the atmospheric refraction over a nearby body of water will reflect the sound back into the stadium, making it louder.
In trying to draw a distinction between the implications to RBNY of an NY2 team on the West side of Manhattan and an NY2 team East of Manhattan, he may be making a point worth talking about, the hysterical language aside. Compared to all the other issues, I haven't seen much discussion on that point.
I assume this is the point you refer to: http://www.businessinsider.com/why-...tan-real-estate-purchase-2012-4#ixzz1rmGLCc00
