9 goals now I think, just for Newcastle.

Joe Allen is a VERY, Very good possession midfielder. He is also only 22 years old.

At worst, they drop down to #2.

Yea, that's kind of what I was referring too. Not losing a cl place specifically.

Still, dropping down to 2 is a kick in the teeth from what we've become used too.

Happy with Cisse success so far, there is alot of value in Bundesliga available for EPL clubs specially perhaps out of top 4.

When you get knocked out in four cup competitions you are cheating in the league. Liverpool finished fifth in the leageu and they still whooped your asses.

Possession based football means nothing without penetration. That's been clear or sometime. That's part of what makes Barcelona special. They have mastered both, with this group of players.

One comment about Swansea high pressing vs United high pressing. We don't have to, to win the league, so we don't. There is a great deal of risk for the reasonable reward that it offers - SC have to do it because they don't have the same quality attackers we have. Look, against Blackburn we basically played a Swanseaesque game - 1 up top, patient build-up, lots and lots of possession, but we wouldn't have won the match but for a remarkable finish and a fantastic finish. All that possession and dominance could have resulted in a loss had our keeper not been in good nick.

Possession doesn't guarantee wins. Hell, it doesn't even guarantee chances. I think Fergie has a formula or an approach by which he determines a method for us creating more clear cut scoring chances than our opponents and living with whatever gets us that ratio. Truth be told, we are often out shot, but when we're playing midtable teams, even teams that out shoot us, I rarely feel we win games we should have lost because we manage to create real chances, based either on counter, counter-counter, wing play/dribbling or interplay that our opponents cannot match.

I'd say of all the teams in the league, we're the team most likely to be undone by a wondergoal. There have been a number of them in close matches over the last few years.

What is clear though is that this approach has not worked for us in Europe where we face teams that are often as technical as we are, if not more technical than we are.

In the grand scheme, a tie is a decent result for spuds in this game. Although 2 dropped will look worse in the shorter term.

The door could really be opening for the Geordies right now. Possibly, maybe.

What a dull uneventful match that was. Thankfully it was an early kick off, if I'd stayed up for that I'd have been a bit miffed.

What's everyone watching next? I'm think I'm going to go for Chelsea Wigan

Wigan are a team I hope somehow manage to stay up, much more enjoyable to watch and Martinez seems a nice manager. Would rather someone like blackburn went down in their place

I think this might be it for Daglish. Liverpool below Sunderland as things stand.

A loss to Everton in the FA cup and that will be that.

If Liverpool lose this, well, that would be as low as any moment under Roy/cowboys/FSW.....

At home to villa. A villa decimated by injury.

Their off ball movement is just awful. Static.

Daglish looks so far out of his depth. He struggled 15 years ago, and football has moved on significantly since then.

It is a 3 point gap to West Brom as things stand and Liverpool still have to travel away to Albion.

How wonderful would it be if Woy's WBA finish ahead of Liverpool :)
