I prefer it to RBNY just outright dumping young 20-somethings like Kassel and Hot. At least DCU is giving Conor a chance to develop elsewhere rather than waiving him. It does show some interest in the kid's future.
Notable former players Eric Brunner (2008) Paulo Jr. (2009–2010) These two guys get meaningful games with top MLS teams despite having once played for the lowly Ft. Lauderdale Strikers...
Would you remind me please what position Bruce Arena and Tony DiCicco played (among many other successful coaches)
I agree with many of the posters in this thread. And will add, at some point (generally 17-20) you stop "getting better" by strictly practicing and "listening to a coach". Things need to be learned then implemented in a game. If you have no chance to implement the skills go untested and thus unpolished. Not to mention the plateau that occurs when a young player becomes disillusioned because he hasn't played in a meaningful game in 3 years.
man ur spot on. the key is u got to cap off the training with games during developmental period. as they say in golf the key to success is taking the good shots on the range to the tournament course.
Gil played for about 65 minutes tonight didn't see the game much but I did see that Morales seemed to aggravate his injury. Didn't look good, wonder if this means Luis will not be released for the u-20 camp.
Houston dynamo sent HG Soto to NASL san Antonio scorpions on loan. I think we starting to see a trend for these HG players. They need games.
He could have been tearing things up for the U-23s. But no, little Teetee Bunburee had to go fall over himself against those Northies and essentially knock us out of the tournament.
That's the Omar Salgado you know. And I agree. Had his rookie season turned out differently, though, we'll never know. Because this whole "Vancouver-not-playing-him" is not a new phenomenon.
and apparently not going away any time soon. Do we even want MLS to be developing our players? ( <----- yes that is frustration talking)
Yes, IF THEY PLAY. If not, they're better off developing with a European team's reserves where the quality of instruction and competition is much more conducive to developing talent. It's a completely different mentality fighting your way through the ranks at a top European club rather than going 90 minutes in a reserve MLS league match where it's essentially rec soccer.
He should have never entered the MLS draft he should of just waited until he was 18 so he could of possibly signed with Arsenal, but SMH! at Vancouver something needs to be done ASAP.
But how do you know as a 17-18 year old if you are going to play? If I were a prospect I'd consider my options long and hard.
Andrew Wenger just scored his first MLS goal. Long ball over the top, fought with the defender, finds the ball and one time through the legs of the keeper.
is it just me but it seems like the top 10 draft picks for 2012 are making an usually significant impact compared to previous years.
