There's this situation with Landy Cakes (is that a homosexual slur if I call him that??) Then there was Becks threatening a fan in the stands at one point. Was it a homosexual slur when we all made fun of him for wearing his underwear during the Superbowl? didn't Blanco verbally assault one of our ball boys? It was bad enough that he scared him with his lumbering awkward gait, but yelling too? I watched a group of Mexican team fans get in a fight with a group of Dynamo fans, I'm sure both sides were liberally tossing around certain words... The list of potential suspensions is nearly endless! Our very own coach has invented an entirely new language based solely on cursing and slurs!
Today I call on Don Garber and the Dynamo FO to prepare to take immediate action on May 12th the first time that "P U T O" is yelled at the first game. BBVA Compass security should be prepared to clear the South end supporters stands if this slur is used. We shall not stand for this. No justice, no peace!!!!!! BTW, I'll stop posting on this subject when someone - anyone - can properly use the words/terms "homophobia" and "fascist" . Its amazing how the sheep follow the herd on this, not bothering to remember anything from the English class they failed in HS
Ask and you shall receive. Westside Cosmo displays signs of homophobia. He fears that homosexuals somehow threaten his own lifestyle and/or sexuality. Westside Cosmo is a fascist. He believes that the strength of the nation is dependent on, and should be dictated by, the beliefs of white males over the rest of the population. (and to clarify, I understand that Fascism does not necessarily entail white supremacy, I'm speaking here of the particular case in point)
You are an idiot. You exhibit signs of homophobia when you fear that the fair treatment of homosexuals somehow is a dangerous proposition for your own (or our societal) lifestyle. You would be a facist if you turned your inane sense of superiority in being a member of the majority, equated it with the general identity of the nation (oh, look...), and formed a totalitarian political party based around that pseudonationalistic ideal. you would then leverage that lie into an excuse to get rid of the people that don't fit your idiotic idea. there would be mass deportations, etc. in fact, in your propaganda, you would probably use sweeping, insulting terms to dehumanize them.
I'm very glad as I continue to read this thread that Westside Cosmo definitely does not represent the majority opinion of your fan base. He's quite insane, and not in a good way.
Actually, non of the posters in this forum represent the majority or minority opinion of the Houston Dynamo Fan base. There are probably no more than 25, but certainly less than 50 folks who post to this particular forum. Our average attendance at home games is somewhere around 17k-18k. Your forum probably has the same kind of demographic, so the those who post here only represent their own opinions. As with your forum - this is just a bunch of folks with enough time on their hands to actually GAS about posting our opinions. Although I have never met him - Mr. Cosmo is probably a very nice person in real life. Me? Well I'm just an old opinionated AH. What would it take to get a 3 game suspension for calling a child an "Fing heterosexual slur"? Keeping things equal and all that stuff..... Fear of homosexuals is not the same as calling bs on a political response to a bad situation.
I'm not saying its not out there but could you show me one post where Westside shows/implies fear that homosexuals threaten his lifestyle/sexuality?
WC did state that tolerance towards homosexuals is causing us to be a third-world country, a few pages back.
I think that in Clark's case, he was referring to the ball boy as an "idiot" and not as a fgot. Growing up, that's how I always heard that word. Now times change, and people change. I'm sure I've used that word playing basketball or whatever when I was a kid, but it's not really used as much anymore. I can't think of the last time I used the word. There are now new words for kids to use on the playground, and new words that people take offense to. As our children get older, there will be some words that they learn to stop using in civilized discourse. What is harmless jokes to one person can be taken differently by another. There was a job I once had where when I was talking to a senior manager how much I enjoyed it. I told her that my old job was "a third world country" by comparison. When she later was relaying that to others, someone said "I'm from a third world country and I don't like that characterization." It never occurred to my manager or myself that someone would have a problem with that. For a while there were those trying to get people to stop saying "black" and use "African American" instead. Max Bretos got in trouble for saying "chink on ones armor." Was he slighting Lin's race? Any reasonable person would say no. Was Clark questioning the ball boy's sexual orientation? Probably not. IMHO, three games is two too many as a suspension. I personally think that cursing the kid is worse than the fgot remark, but I can see how someone might see it the other way around. Finally, a person's opinion can't be wrong. You might not agree with it, but someone's opinion is based on feelings and their upbringing, not facts. My parents grew up during racial integration in America. I don't expect them to have the same opinion about people of different color/race as I do. Does that make them "disgusting"? No. "Sad?" No. "Pathetic?" No. "Evil?" No. "Fascist?" No.
Teach them to say ******** instead. Stop acting like a ******** = stop being alittle bitch, idoit or queer you make it what you want.
I won't defend Clark. We don't accept calling anyone that word anymore. But the above view puzzles me tremendously. SSFC put the kid into a meaningful role in a highly competitive adult sport. That kid is actually a young man in the SSFC academy who is proud of what happened. And he would have been proud of upsetting Clark even if TV had not picked it up. Believe me, every ball kid in the league is going to mess with visitors now and pray that he can wind up a visiting player.
I don't think you're a giant agenda'd liberal. I was also thinking that Clark couldn't have picked a worse time as we don't play again for awhile so all we have to talk about is....
Don - tell me, would it have been OK to call the "young man" a fkng idiot, rather than what Clark did say? I think it would have been wrong either way. Your opinion might be different. Whether or not the ball boy was proud of what happened, or thought it was his job to do that is beside the point. In the eyes of the MLS (and the law, except in some criminal cases ) he is still a child. I would cut Clark more slack for cussing out another player than I would for cussing out a kid on the sideline but that's just me. By the way, Kinnear once called my husband a "retard" when he suggested that Dom put Waibel in the game we were watching. I'm curious what you think of that?
'' the KC keeper called our ball boy some interesting choice words (in English and Danish) and nothing happened to him IIRC. and get this the ball boy was removed. That kid should get a place in our hall of honor. Maybe not Orange Blazer material but maybe orange polo stuff.
Yes, I remember that game. I knew the GK was upset but I couldn't hear what he was saying. Let me put this scenario out there for your opinion (I honestly would like to know what you think): Your 13 year old daughter is the ball girl at a Houston-Galaxy game and she throws the ball at Donovan's feet when he calls for it on a throw in. Donovan calls your daughter a "fkng ho" for doing that. What is your reaction?
nothing-I expect that from Landycakes. I think it was Harold and Kumar-you expect stupid things to be said by stupid people. I am a New Yorker, growing up, Rev. Al used to make everything about Race and even used the word "honky"-NYers just kind of shook their heads and went on with life, nothing to get razzed about coming from the source. But that's just my take-or else I would pissed every minute of every day about something someone said.
Has anyone asked this poor distraught child how he feels? Maybe he doesn't care. I have a feeling that when I was 12 or 13, if I got to be on the field for a Bears game, and Walter Payton ran up and called me that, I'd be on Cloud 9.
