I'm pretty sure he'll be in goal for us Saturday. After that though i'm not sure. I'm thinking Nolly might start the home opener as I would imagine Johnson will be on that Olympic team. Looks like that Tornaghi signing was a good move now as Johnson will probably miss several games between qualifying and the olympics come July. Assuming we make the Olympics that is which I think we will.

Thought I read on HTIOT that Johnson will miss the first two games and Tornaghi will not dress at all the first game. That leaves Nolly as our only GK.

SJ left for U23 camp so no chance of him making starts in these two games. The tribune had the story if you would like to read it.

Wow didn't think he'd miss the opener. Guess the olympic qualifying is pretty important though. Probably see Nolly in goal Saturday although the Fire twitter feed makes it sound like Tornaghi has looked pretty good in training.

He's in the game vs. El Salvador after Hamid picked up an injury. He's looked worlds better than Hamid so far.

    EDIT: and i jinxed him

Well Johnson just may have just eliminated the USA the Olympic trip.

I guess now we will have two good GK the full summer.

I think we need to send SJ good wishes on Facebook or twitter, he is going to be tored up by spazzing USA fans :(

Yep. That late goal in the 94th minute was a double blow to our U23 squad.

Horrible defense, really bad and a weak goal to boot.

Oh well, welcome home Sean and get ready to work. The new guy isn't going to make it easy.

Johnson gave up that critical (awful) late goal, but Hamid gave up 2 bad goals vs. Canada and another bad one tonight.

Really horrible play from the US at the very end trying to kill off the game, though El Salvador should have been down to 10 players after that deliberate punch to the face earlier in the 2nd half.

If we had discipline and controlled possession we wouldn't have lost the lead.

I've seen it before . . . a lot of times at Toyota Park.

Yes Hamid was worst, I only saw the second half, very bad day for USA goalkeeping.

Hopefully SJ can forget about it and play well the rest of the year.

Johnson isn't to blame. Hamid is to blame. Instead of asking to be subbed out due to his injury, he selfishly chose to stay in and his two hideous errors in goal (the second one made worse by the fact that his injury meant he couldn't get to the ball fast enough), not to mention his stinker against Canada and the USA's overall poor play, cost us the Olympics.

So the USA fails to make the Olympics and with Tornaghi playing so well there's no guarantee SJ will start when he gets back. You think maybe he's sorry he joined the U-23s for this trip?

i'll probly take some heat from this, but personally i'd rather see Tornaghi continue in goal for at least a couple more matches

I'd have to agree. I can't believe Johnson committed that howler last night. It was the first thing that popped into my head when the alarm clock went off this morning.

i'll admit i didnt see the match last nite so i won't condemn SJ on that, but there is a lot of little things he needs work on that just bug the heck out of me, like his punting the ball out of play at least once a match, or his ability to read high crosses into the box. SJ has got great reflexes and can make some amazing saves, but I still wanna see if Tornaghi can bring even more positive play in goal

Klopas has said that everybody is competing for their position. I think this keeper situation will be an opportunity to see if he has any stones in olives. :)

After Sean's horrible save attempt on El Salvador's 3rd goal (I'm not even going to discuss that game:mad:) I say keep Tornaghi as number one for now.

Tonahgi has impressed upon me he's at least as good as SJ. He definitely has better command in the goal box going to catch / cut out an opposing cross. He's also made some very nice reaction saves in his two games with us so far. His distribution might be better too.

I don't see how SJ starts this weekend. The job seems to be PT's to lose as of today.

I think we stick with Paolo for now. Plus, where will Sean's confidence be after giving that up? I think I might even let him take a few days off to recover mentally before he rejoins the squad.

I don't see last night's mistake making a difference in whether or not he starts this weekend. IMO, if Tornaghi gets the start, it will be because he's had 2 good games and Klopas wants to continue with what is working.

He was actually really good last night in all of the areas you mention. He was having a great game until that 94th minute mistake.

Good post. Strongly disagree with those wanting to bench Sean John.
