The funny part is when the Bruins announcers says "that's a mismatch." [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hvq78Oce52A"]Michael Komisarek vs Milan Lucic Mar 19, 2012 - YouTube[/ame] Komisarek outweighs Lucic by 20 pounds!
2-2 after two against the Isles. I see no good reason for a leaf win tonight, so I expect a solid third period
Far be it for me to tell Toronto fans how to think, but you're only 3 points off the 3rd worse record. 8 points off the playoffs. From nearly all scouting reports I've seen there are three all star caliber players in the draft, with two being elite level skill. A lottery chance at Grigorenko or Yakupov? WIth a fall back of Galchenyuk? I might be inclined to view losses in a different vein at this point.
I think a majority of Leafs fan feel that way about tanking for a top 3 pick but knowing our Leafs they will go on a mini-run to make sure they are within the 8-12 range.
You called it...what a shameful third period. Every goal was a turnover...none the worse then Komo. My feeling is that the Leafs players feel exactly as we do. Unmotivated and will accept the fate of whatever happens on any given night. April 7th can't come quick enough. I don't know what went wrong in Feb and right now it's so frustrating as we were almost certain to make the playoffs and now, this. We know Burkie won't do another rebuild as he's invested too much time into this one, but how will this team be significantly better come October? i don't see it. The only advantage Burkie has is burying players in the minors as the next CBA will have a clause to eliminate this rule as smaller market teams are heavily against this. Last chance for Brian to cover up his mistakes in Komo and Army. Fire Burke chant last night... Most of the rankings have Galchenyuk around 6th overall which is generous considering he lost almost his entire season with a blownout knee. The situation reminds me of the Connolly pick by Tampa 2 years ago. Either a team hits a home run or flubs badly with this kid. Can't argue after a 31G 52A season as a 16 yr old that the kid has talent, but i seriously doubt anyone is going to risk the 3rd pick overall on him.
I'm not really looking at rankings. I'm looking at specific scouting reports and adding what little I've seen of the kids. Galchenyuk has high end talent and he's a big kid. He's the 3rd most talented forward in the draft, ahead of Filip Forsberg. Forsberg will be a big forward with a good shot and likely have a solid career, but Galchenyuk has all star level talent. His only downside is the knee injury which you are right, means he probably won't go #3. But talent wise I think he makes the highest impact after Yakupov and Grigorenko. Only time will tell.
Lupie nominated for the Masterton award. Great season for him. He really deserves it. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=391068
Without being too biased, i think Lupel should win due to his point production. He would likely be in the top 10 in scoring if he didn't get injured.
Leafs in Jersey tonight...Minny won last night so if the season ended today we'd be drafting 5th overall
^ Seems like ages ago that we were closing in on OTT with a few points out.... Kadri and Hamilton in tonight for Clarke and Frattin as they are injured.
Leafs now 7th in the draft lottery standings. Columbus 55 Edmonton 69 Montreal 71 NY Islanders 71 Minnesota 72 Tampa 73 Toronto 74 Bold teams have 2 games in hand on Toronto Columbus has 1
Sure he could be in the top 10 if he did not get hurt but its possible he might not of i really think Lupul should get a ton of credit for the season he has had but i don't think he will win.
^ Who would you give it too? You know how difficult it is to be a top of the league in scoring like he was for so long? You have Malkin, Sedin Stamkos...these are all 100% healthy machines. Randy referred to Lupel as an elderly man when he was sick. He's come a long way with hard work.
Alfie has had a pretty good rebound season, but his injuries were less to overcome than both Pacioretty's and Lupul's were.
Officially out of the playoffs... Start thinking of a new name for next years thread. 'Turning over a new Leaf' won't suffice. Have to save that until were actually playoff contenders.
^ TML 2012-13: Freshly Mulched? We are back down to picking 5th overall. Good stuff boys, don't listen to the boo-birds and keep tanking.
I honestly hope we lose the remainder of our games. No more having a winning mentality in the final games and playing for pride and all that BS. Enough is enough. I'm a proud member of Tank Nation.
e - Toronto 77 75 e - Minnesota 76 72 e - Montreal 77 72 e - Edmonton 76 71 e - Columbus 76 55 Man Columbus is sooooooooo bad In my view Galenchyuk's injury could be a huge blessing to Toronto. If he drops to them at 5 that could be a perfect pick for them. Big uber talented center. or if rumors are true and Edmonton or Columbus are looking to trade, maybe you move Luke Schenn to Edmonton and swap picks? Then you have a big even more uber talented center in Grigorenko
Though I am a big Luke Schenn fan (often think he gets ripped on too much) I would say it is worth it to get a player of Grigorenko's talent
