The "problem" with this tonight was that every single corner was won on the left side, Adu's weaker side. So I'm assuming Adu will take inswinging corners on the right while Diskerud will continue on the left.

MOTM to me was Corona, but not by much from Mix. I'm starting to be a Mix fan, the kid is very smooth with great vision.

I see Porter subs and I'm guessing that Gyau will start in the next game. Not sure if Agudelo will either play a half as a CF or take either Corona's spot or Adu's or maybe Porter just splits the CF evenly between Agudelo and Boyd. Agudelo has only played one half so he will play at least a half. both Corona and Adu have played the whole game is someone else going to replace them?. Is Mix going to start again? Okugo will start. Looks like everything is going according to Porter's plan.

Mix bossed it tonight, distributed well, everything from him was positive play.

Corona impressed me with his calmness in his finishing.

Mix had a great night. Didn't show up in the score sheet but was all over the place. Fantastic performance.

Corona obviously played well, had his finishing boots on. Didn't waste opportunities near goal, which to me is the biggest indictment of the US player pool in recent years.

Fred had a golazo, definitely got stronger as the game went on. What needs to be said is his service was just impeccable. His FKs in the final half/third and his corners were very, very dangerous balls. He gets lost sometimes when pushed outside, but when he's in the middle he can pick a pass like nobody in this region.

Shea and Agudelo did well, out of control a few times on the dribble but made a few goals happen. Solid 7s.

Jeffrey/Okugo are just different players. Jeffrey has a better touch, a bit more feel for the game. Okugo is just a physical destroyer. Both have roles, depending on the team we're against.

Back line was decent. That's all I got. Whatever god you pray to, pray to it over this subject. It's the different between a mediocre showing and maybe something special.

Wingers for Mexico are a dime a dozen. No way he'd ever play over Cortes or Aquino. Now if he was a striker that would be a different story.

Whether he STARTS over Cortes, Aquino, or Fabian isn't really the point. You have to have more than 11 players, and Corona is clearly one of the better young players in Mexico.

Wanted to bump this because this is spot on. Good result but we can't really take a lot away from this. Cuba was very poor and once they went down to 10 men it was hardly a game. Prior to going down I was very surprised at the directness of US play particularly from the back line and Jeffrey. I'm willing to give some grace as it was the first 25 in the first game for this team with something actually riding on the result. But there is no way to take this performance and judge how it would translate to a tougher opponent. Neither the good or the bad.

Mix and Corona were very good though. Corona is smooth and shows a saviness to his game that is usually missing amongst American players

Mix and Corona were awesome, minus the corners from Mix (they were horrendous) definitely my players of the game. Corona really surprised me, I had no idea he was that good.


Bunbury was poor as usual but I thought Sarkodie was easily the worst US player, he will get abused when he goes up against a good player. Only thing he did was back pass every time he got the ball or put in a garbage cross. He also seemed very shaky in defense. Horrible in defense, horrible going forward. US would be better off with a traffic cone in his spot.

Both the outside backs were pretty awful. I'm not a big fan of Williams but he is much better than Sarkodie.
