It was great to see all those 63 Leafs come out on the ice. For those who missed it:

Johnny MacMillan, Dick Duff, Bob Nevin, Eddie Shack, Bob Baun, Johnny Bower, George Armstrong, Larry Hillman, Red Kelly.... they seemed to be in awe of Alexander Ovechkin.

But once again after a lengthy pregame ceremony, Leafs fell behind 0-2 in the first period... eventually losing to Washington. :p

Interesting that you mention these 5-6 Ontario-born players. Did anyone see Don Cherry's rant on HNIC last weekend? Toronto the only team in the NHL without an Ontario-born player. And 4 years no playoffs. hmmm...

I never understand the logic where you should have players from a certain area it should be the best players if that means a canadian team has all non canadians so what if its the best players.

Exactly. It's not like Toronto is willfully excluding Ontario based players, it's just that well frankly they are really good and everybody wants them. I mean, would Nazem Kadri be a better fit on the front line than Phil Kessel because of his driver's license?

Its like any company are you going to hire someone based on there location or the best person for the job most times a company will hire the best person for the job so why should sports be any different.

Because sports are different. If you dream of playing for the Leafs while growing-up, you'll have that little bit of extra passion and incentive when you put on the jersey.

Leafs were shut out back-to-back games over the weekend :(

We now sit 8 points out of 8th with only 13 games left...

Sure, for a while. Maintaining an increased level of effort, over and above what you would be capable of doing for another team based on passion and incentive alone, is not really possible.

Realistically, being a long time fan likely means you are more likely to have consistent performances for the team, and are less likely to lay-an-egg in any given game.

So they'll have to go 11-1-1 to have a realistic shot at the 8th seed. Not gonna happen....

^ We have a more realistic chance at a lottery pick then making the playoffs. Tank Nation is in full force. Burkie dismissed the notion of tank nation today in the paper...but having a top 5 pick would ease the pain a bit.

I've watched the last few games, and it looks like this team is out of gas, has bonked, hit the wall etc.

We've got no hope but to tank now.

We peaked early in the season where it was much easier to win games. We depended on Phil and Lupel for offense and didn't really have that secondary scoring besides Grabo. (Who struggled as well) and the goalkeeping was non existent.

What's really troubling is Kulie? What player goes from 30 goal seasons to single digits? And who in the history of the game went from 30, to 7 back to 30? Burkie needs to put his pride on the side and get rid of Komo and Army. Free up that 7.5m and bring in some offense help. Make a push for Parise!! Which i doubt will happen.

Next season doesn;t look much more promising either...we should of got those 4 1st rounders at the deadline and start over...again.

The Leafs should do a true rebuild and not just go out and sign players.

2 straight wins over Tampa and Ottawa and all of a sudden we're back to 6 points behind Washington. After coming off 5 straight road games our schedule is now much less difficult...just sayin'

^ All we needed was 3 wins in that losing streak and look how different things would of been.

All the talk is about Grabo and Neil fight...Grabo admitted his wife would slap him when she gets angry at him lol.

    Bruins tonight...enough said.

After his time with MOntreal, I'm not sure why Komisarek would ever do anything other than shine Lucic's skates and carry his bag for him.

Well many said he was never the same after the first encounter with Lucic so maybe another beating might knock him back into old form

This beat down resulted in Mike Komisarek's final play as a Canadien.
