I know that we only had 12K+ at the game, but the impression on television was SOOOO much better than it has been in the past. (I had to attend a wedding and had to tape the game). 1. The way we are filling seats, you could not tell that this was anything other than a well-attended game. 2. Microphones must have been placed differently than before because you could really hear the crowd and it was impressive. 3. Beer Garden and Inferno made very nice impressions. 4. Slightly more flags than before -- still a long way to go 5. BANNERS WERE FABULOUS. 6. You could finally hear some singing and chanting -- hopefuly, a sign of things to come. Keep this up, and we won't hear any more of the trolls making fun of our attendance or game-day atmosphere. Last note -- Give me a 12,000 fan game with true fans that give a damn like last night vs. a sellout of soccer moms and their little tikes any day. ***Memo to Front Office -- Sporting KC have confetti cannons on each side of both goals and they aren't afraid to use them. It sure makes things festive. If we continue to have high-quality matches with true fans in the stands, our attendance should grow significantly.
i like how the commentator and analyst worked it. They were more pro-Dallas than we've ever had and more importantly they actually saw what happened in the game and never missed a player's name. I love all the past guys for their effort and heart but the boys last night nailed it.
I am fairly convinced that while in years past "12K" could mean anything from 8k to 12k, the trend has been recently for people who bought tickets have actually been showing up and having a good time cheering. It is indeed an encouraging sign.
I forgot to DVR the game and MDL still has it blacked out for a bit - who were the commentators for last night's game? I know its going to be a rolling commentator crew, so I'm curious who it was.
This week was Johnathan Yardley & Dante Washington Mark Followill is calling next week in KC and I'm not sure who the color guy is.
It feels like signifcantly less "unattended" kids than in the past -- the one's who were there seemed like they were moderatly interested or they were tiny and had parents who wanted to see the game, rather than the parent who was just there to babysit a kids night out. The feel is much better. Only remaining thing to fix is to get the south eastern supporters group directly behind the south goal. Oh, and props to the fruit stand. Last two games I have gotten a bag of grapes and beer. Left both games feeling light and happy.
Top of sec 109. If the beer guardians and the Inferno can coordinate the FC--Dallas-- chant, that would be awesome!!! I know the "fans" in our library section were getting into it finally
West side looked pretty sparse. Did a lot of those increased season ticket holders have weddings to attend?
Some of us got stuck watching what Direct Kick gave us which was Root Sports and the Timber's comms team. They were nothing short of awful.
There is a microphone situated to the side of the inferno section which I swear wasn't there last season. I am sure that helps!
It was definitely there for Red Bulls/NBC, but unless they moved it to a different place, I don't recall seeing the microphone for the Timbers game.
It seems like there was, as a switch was flipped a couple mins into the broadcast that added the Inferno to the crowd noise last night. It was very noticeable when it was turned on.
My thoughts exactly. And they had their own microphone on the Timbers Army section. Couldn't hear the Dallas fans at all. But I was surprised that the DK feed was from the visiting team. I don't recall seeing that very often in past seasons.
I think one of best improvements is the game was in HD, which didn't always happen last year. Fingers crossed that it will continue for the roadies upcoming.
I agree, that was the best looking and sounding 12k match at Stadio FCD that I've seen. In regards to the chants, my feeling at the RBNY match was that people wanted to get into them, they just didn't always know what to say when. We need official capos throughout the stadium leading chants. Basically like A&M yell leaders.
Did someone say "A&M"? Not an aggie, but I sure enjoy those folks... And any school that can consistently get 4-5000 at a women's soccer match might have some good ideas.
They had a mic by the beer garden stands. DVR the game and could us saying "Hey Perkins its all you fault" after the goal as well as some other chants.
He's talking about the Direct Kick feed which gave us their broadcast and he's right, they did have a microphone in front of their supporters because that's all I heard all night.
