18th minute, 0-0, Vancouver having the better game so far, Edwards booked for Seattle in the 12th minute.

Vancouver 1-0, 44th minute, should've been offside according to my source. No report on who got the goal.

    Second half started, still 1-0.

I haven't been able to get much other than that play was favoring Vancouver in the 18th minute, Mikey.

67th minute, 1-0. Finally got a report on that 44th minute goal: Jordan with the goal, Daley with the assist.

Jason Jordan with the salt in the wound, 90th minute strike for a brace.
    2-0 Vanouver.

2nd leg Sunday without Viet Nguyen, who sits with his ejection tonight.

    Sux.

Looks like the Sounders of 2002 could be the Mariners of 2001.

That is a pretty shocking result. I know think that Vancover may be the best in the west.

I don't know about that but they are now, for the first time this season, playing with a full lineup.

The first goal was definitely offside -- in fact there were two Caps in an offside position -- the goal scorer and another on the far side. The player on the far side probably could be judged to not be involved in the play though. Horrible non-call, but when you're the road team (and favorite) you cannot expect to get favorable calls, and it's not like it's the first time it's happened in football. The referees did NOT lose this game for us. That's about as well as Vancouver could have played and they were excellent value for their win.

Nguyen, he's not generally a dirty player, but was a deserved red. Stupid frustration foul for being dispossessed. Stupid, stupid stupid. The ref was right to send him off.

But even more stupid was coach Schmetzer's tactics in the last 5 minutes. In a two-legged series, down to 10 men, you CANNOT get caught 2 v. 1 on a counter like we did, pushing everyone forward, and giving up a STUPID 2nd goal on a jailbreak the other way. Inexcusable. Let the Caps have 1-0, regroup and reclaim the series at home. Schmetzer played as though this were a regular season match and HAD to pull a draw out. Unfortunately, this seems to be the latest in some serious "lack of judgment" decisions made by Schmetzer over the last part of the season. Rookie mistakes that could really be costly in the end.

0-1 is no big deal at home, the Caps would have a diffcult time sweating this out 10 men behind the ball all match. 0-2 is worlds different, and they may just be able to pull it off on a narrow pitch. It also gives NO margin for error for freaky calls, bad bounces, or a fluke goal. 3 would be asking a heck of a lot.

Now that being said, I call on all Seattle supporters to get out there tomorrow and support the lads like we've never supported them before. This is war, and they're gonna need our best support to do the business. Leave nothing on the table!

As for the fans, I thank K-head, Rasta, Whitecaps79 and others for treating us well up there, especially the recommendation for Earl's for pre-match. Hope to see some of you lot in Seattle at the pub beforehand.

Almost all the other fans I met up there were great, the one exception being a woman with Carribean accent sitting next to me that had the biggest racism/color-issue chip on her shoulder that I've EVER met. Thoroughly unpleasant and making me wish I'd spent the entire match in the Southside. Seemed like she was goading me the entire match to turn everything into a "race card" thing, right down to each team's kit color, and the ethnic makeup (or her perception of same) of the city of Seattle. Un-***************ing believable, guess the U.S. doesn't have a monopoly on behavior/attitudes such as this.

Unfortunately, got so distracted trying to sort her "logic" out (forgot you can't debate with a moron) that the support for our lads suffered as a result. Guess those on the pitch weren't the only ones not being smart -- on behalf of all the other Seattle supporters, I apologize for not giving my 'A' support for the lads and will rectify that on Sunday.

See, I can be a nice guy!

Sorry about the moron in the crowd, she should have been at the football game over at BC Place I guess.
