Well logged on and surprised that many of the post had positive spins on in them, but you guys are too nice

Defense stunk again Meyers and Franklin were very poor and were beaten easily

Sad to see Becks kicking into the box the last 10 minutes hoping for a prayer...LD should have the ball at that stage of the game, making runs and shooting.

Sad to see Becks snub Cardozo who was open wide toward the end..he looked his way and probably said no way I pass to this kid, he trips over his own feat.

Sad to see Keane let the ball run into the box and then kick it softly into the GK instead of giving it an EPL style blast...cocky stuff not cool.

Sad to see Bruce ignore the weak def during preseason and not shore it up...I guess he figured LD, RK, Buddle, and Becks would all score a goal and Suanders and the def could just sit on their ass.

Only positive, we avoid getting embarrassed by Mexicans clubs.

Santos is in mid-season form. Very, very different.

And Seattle's defense was even worse than ours. Their fullbacks had a nightmare. An absolute and utter nightmare.

Yeah thats true but what it the EPL preseason like 2 months maybe. I would have used Madrid and Barca but we lost all those games. We however were the only MLS team since the Beckham era to not get blown out by those teams. :D

I did and you did say, verbatim,

"LA lost this game because the ref took away a goal that would have tied this game and they didnt give us a penalty that would have won us the game."

You mentioned after that we're in bad form and haven't gelled, but don't say that any of that accounts for the loss.

Fair enough though, the refs certainly played a part. If Magee's goal isn't called back, we probably go on to win the game, but we had so many opportunities otherwise, we can only blame the players and coaches.

No way this team repeats with those 4 in the back and saunders at GK. Sporting FC, Houston, and Dallas will eat those 4 and saunders up. Cmon Bruce!

This is sadly true. Like I basically said beforein this thread, If we were in the form we were in last year during this thing we would have stomped TFC so bad it would have cost somebody a job in their front office. But nope. The break just kills MLS teams.

I find it funny how so many people are quick to blame our defense, when it's our midfield that constantly hung them out to dry.

Juninho is directly to blame for not picking up his runner on 3 of the 7 goals we've conceded this season.

Beckham basically just goes where he wants. Sometimes he'll chase hard and play D, but he's not able to do that 90 minutes.

and that’s why CCL will always be a joke, with teams from different regions in pre-season at either the knock-out round or qualifying it’s never an equitable competition.

I think I started to get more and more mad as the game wore on.

Bruce, you effed up. Big time. Now is the time to hunker down and earn that paycheck. Playing all those guys without rotating the line-up was not a smart decision. I don't understand why you wouldn't just take the L over the weekend to give us the best chance possible of winning the game today? Bruce is a great coach but sometimes I think he is his own worst enemy. He made many noob decisions this week and I hope he learns from them and corrects them in the future.

As for the play on the field, well, I don't think I can say anything that hasn't already been said. I like the offense but it looks like a pick up game out there. Everyone just needs a couple weeks to learn people's tendencies so that the offense can gel a little more. Same thing with the defense. People weren't covering their runners and that's really how most of our goals against have happened this year. These are all fixable and I hope the team is determined to fix it.

We were horribly prepared for this series and it showed. From all the bad passes and unforced errors to the terrible finishing, we are not mentally prepared for the beginning of the season. I have no idea what our outside backs are doing but their crossing has been atrocious. Beyond bad. Barrett, I think our team is wearing the white jerseys, not the red. As people have said, this game was so anti-galaxy it was kind of scary. These are the same people we have all been watching the last couple years, right? I don't know what's up but I hope it is fixed.

I'm not as down on the team as some people here are. I still think this year will be a good year. I hope we take the USOC and make a go in the toss up that is the MLS playoffs. The TEAM needs more time. I'm not going to lie, I was dreaming like the rest of you of overpowering teams with our offense while our defense collected clean sheets here and there. CCL glory, the final frontier, was looking good on the horizon. A pail of ice cold water just hit us in the face. There will be brighter days on the horizon. I definitely am looking forward to the '12-'13 CCL.

Yes you point out another potential weakness, but the TFC goals were built up from out wide, because for some reason, Bruce thinks he has two EPL capable winger/FBs, but does not. That being said, I sure would like to see a strong CDM sit a little back to slow down opponents.

Very good point. I think on average the D has looked deer in headlights. However, in this game, they were not to blame.

    Goal #1 - Mike Magee
    Goal #2 - Juninho

I hate picking players like that, but it illustrates your point. And I have no idea what the hell is going on with Juninho. As I said, at this rate, Sarvas is making our starting XI.

Game tape is going to be very valuable. Very. I know it will be painful to watch, but the guys need to do it.

I seriously think Juninho was left in Sao Paulo. I don't know who this imposter is but can you please give the real Juninho back? Sarvas is looking like a better and better pick up by the day. It will allow Juninho to get back in form. I seriously think that Sarvas is going to take someone's starting job by the end of the year. Either it will be Juninho or it will be Magee. Both need to step up. Hopefully they do.

usually I don't put a lot of emphasis on a tournament but the way the Galaxy players where talking saying that the CL was the next step to greatness and anything less even winning another MLS cup wouldn't be enough and them falling flat on their faces, really makes this disappointing.

I agree with some here that its going to take me awhile to get into the season, its like somebody promising you Mean Girls Lohan and having to settle for train wreck Lohan, I guess it could be fun but not anything like it could have been.

Brian Straus - and I do love how he is RIGHT about LA's brand:

Guess Leiweke is going to have to put that "greatest brand in soccer, ever" ambition on hold for a while. Crushing loss for LA and MLS.
U know LAG have a global cache that no other MLS team comes close to. LAG winning would do more for MLS than any other club.
You know what I mean. LAG's continental/global cache dwarfs rest of league combined. More at stake for them.
Of course it is. LAG going to CWC would be a far bigger story for MLS, and around world, than any other club.
Yes. This particular LAG team, w/ these players, winning CCL and going to CWC would have been massive.
I'm saying ANY other MLS club wouldn't be as big a story in US or globally for MLS as Beckham/Donovan/Keane/LAG in CWC.
If you don't think MLS would get a whole lot more attention in US, North Amer and around world w/ LAG in CWC, then I can't help you.
Said it was loss for MLS. Didn't say they were "rooting" either way. MLS lost big visibility/marketing opp w/ LA loss. They are SO much bigger than any other club. Guarantee nobody at my office can name a single Timbers player. They don't resonate yet.
It just seemed like this LA team, or one we saw in Nov, was best equipped to win CCL. And to fail so miserably is a big blow.
This LA team was unique, both for its quality (last yr) and marketability. Best of both worlds. Now kaput.

    *********

    Crushed. :(

I'll get over it by Sunday. I hope.

I am not going to argue with you because you clearly are being unrealistic about what Actually happened in this game. And what is the 2nd half of a season when compared to being Number 1 for 2 years straight? Get lost troll.

This. Everything was falling in place for LAG and MLS to take that next step, the perfect storm. People say there's always the next CCL, but who knows what the Galaxy will look like.

We looked bad because we are still in preseason form whereas Santos is in mid-season form.

Well it was more than implied in my statement that the refs were not the total reason for the loss. Geez

Some of the other teams' fans call us arrogant, but man can we display class:

After the game, Robbie Keane gave his jersey to Ty Harden as the pair met in the halls. Keane consoled Harden after own goal. -Adam Serrano

absolutely deflated... I'm not gonna make excuses... we were flat out BEAT at home no less...

Bruce should have rested the boys if the MLS wasn't gonna do us any favors by not scheduling us for the first week of the league. (against RSL to)

That said, you CANNOT lose your man with a ball crossed into the box. there is no excuse for that.

this year already seems lost, I know its way early, but still... its a very empty feeling right now...

And for all you GO MLSers out there... GO SANTOS! F*** toronto. F*** all your bandwagon poser fans that decided to dust off the keyboard and come on here.

F*** the MLS winning concacaf this season

Just got back from the game, extremely disappointed. The refs were horrible, our finishing was awful. But I felt like we were the better team, having more possession and more threatening chances, it just didn't go in tonight.

My dream was for the Galaxy to go to Japan this year for the CWC, I was going to try to join them, but there's always next year.

I hope we can pull it together, and build our dynasty in MLS. Get our third straight Supporters' Shield and defend our Cup. There's no same in continuing to grow, and strive to be a more complete team. We won the SS and the MLS Cup last year. If we win the SS, MLS Cup, and add the US Open Cup to complete the domestic treble this year, that's an improvement on last season. No MLS team has ever won the treble before.

    GOALS:
    2012: US Open Cup
    2012: MLS Supporters' Shield
    2012: MLS Cup
    2012-13: CCL Group winners

Other people have said it, there's no point in advancing to the next round if we weren't ready. Now we can refocus on the next goals ahead, and we'll be stronger next year in this tournament for it. Brightside: We can still be the first MLS club win to the CCL.

    Upset, yes. Deflated, HELL NO!
