Coming home now, we get the Revolution in our home opener. The Revs looked less than impressive against San Jose on the weekend. They subbed Soares out early as well, if he can't go it could be a good night. Either way this is a game we should win.
Anything less than 3 points will be a massive disappointment. Goals for Zusi, Kamara, and Sapong. 3-0.
I think they released a few tickets today. I wouldnt be surprised if they held a couple of hundred for walk-ups. I dont think there is any doubt it will be sold out. I thought I had read that the March 25th game is close to sold out as well.
Anyone know if they're doing the 3 free tickets again this year? I don't see an option on the membership site.
I don't think they are. Sporting 3-1 (Following the "Timbers home opener" model). Also, no draws over the weekend. How long has it been since an MLS week went without a draw? That shit will change this week though because Chicago finally plays.
What are the pre game plans for the game? I know it is St. Pat's day but I was wondering if/when the tailgate starts? What is the beer situation (kegs, price for a cup, etc.)? I'm on the bus from Johnnies so I'm looking to get after it on Saturday. Anybody with details they can share would be great. Love ya, Golo
It sorta depends on which buses you are referencing. The morning Parade group, or the subsequent smaller (eventbrite.com reservation) group...? If you are an eventbrite.com reservation, as of right now, two buses will be departing Johnnys at 5pm sharp to LSP. For your return, the buses will depart LSP 45 minutes after the game is final, back to Johnnys. First Student Bus Co. has patiently worked with the Cauldron on what will be a very hectic day, so we all owe them a small thanks at the door. I cannot stress enough, Please be safe everyone. DISCLAIMER: As many of you well know, Sean has the final word, not me; however, the above info is current with First Student Bus Co.
Yeah, I knew that, it's just I haven't seen anything about it on the membership site yet. Wouldn't the "reservations" be tomorrow? And now it looks like the membership site isn't even working right now for maintenance.

Yeah over at the Revs board they make it sound like half their team is already out. If the D is as patchwork as it seems like it will be, we better take advantage.
Bah, I hate it when this happens... truly. First, it becomes so easy for our team to become over-confident due to the perceived weakness of the opposition, so we have the potential for coming out flat and uninspired. Second, anyone who is playing on the opposition that doesn't generally start is using this as an opportunity to make a case/name for themselves. They want to be starters and this is their opportunity to make that spot theirs. Third, scouting at the player and team level is more difficult when the team makeup consists of unknown players. I expect that they won't be completely empty handed, but the info is undoubtedly going to be on the light side. If we can keep our focus and take advantage early then they might fall apart due to loss of confidence and lack of experience, esp. as a unit... but if we do take things for granted and don't come out very strong then we could easily be caught in a negative feedback loop all while the opposition is gaining confidence. We have had issues playing down to our competition in the past, and I just hope we don't do that again here. Somehow I think that this being a home game, and the home opener at that, will keep us on the right track (I hate situations like this a lot more when we're on the road), but until we get in the habit of being ruthless with perceived weakened or lesser sides (a la Chelsea '09-'10 where they put in 103 goals via many 5, 6 and 7 goal games) I'm always going to get a tad worried when the pre-match commentary is "we should beat them soundly".
At least we don't have to worry about Lekic anymore....he scored two big goals against us last year. At this point, I'm not even sure who their strikers are, but their midfield will give ours a solid test.
Tailgate starts at 2. We are staying at the hotel across the street and will be out there then. The buses leave as mentioned above and in Sean other post. Come out early and hang with us.
