As for promising Champions League football no club can do that. Just look at Chelsea. Despite having a wage budget almost twice that of ours being able to attract Mata and Meireles as opposed to Downing and Adam they are still likely to end up 5th.

Or how about the types of players who join clubs not currently in the Champions League. Bale, Modric, Berbatov, Adebayor, Parker, Kaboul and Lennon all joined Spurs without the incentive of Champions League football. Silva, Tevez, Barry, Milner, Balotelli and Kompany all joined City without Champions League football. The important thing was that those two clubs showed ambition whether it was City spending or Spurs two League cup finals and regular top 6 finishes.

I wasn't surprised with the result, our defence without Agger is a fragile as ever and playing with players like Downing and Henderson pushing foward from midfield we will never be able to score enough goals.

I must admit i dislike Carrolls attitude and overall play, but i HATE Henderson. Sure, he runs around like and idiot all day but doesn't have the balls to finish off the chances and can't defend even if his life depended on it.

From Liverpool FC's official website here is a link to our honours. 03-04 and 07-08 when we finished 4th isn't mentioned for some reason but this years League cup victory is.

I cant be bothered to check Uniteds, Arsenal or Chesleas but I doubt they list finishing 4th or merely qualifying for the Champions League on their honours page. Even poor old Everton who have sweet FA to be proud about in recent years don't list 04-05 when they finished 4th as some type of achievement.

Finishing 4th is good for a few months and maybe up to a year but Silverware is forever.

You seem to be living in LaLaland. The Charity shield and the Carlsburg trophy are listed in our honours, next you'll be saying they're more important than finishing top 4. That is the reality of football in England these days where top 4 gets a CL spot and CL plays such a central role in getting revenues. None of the players listed will stay or go to a club which is winning domestic cups but not getting into the CL. You either get into the CL or pay incredible wages to keep them. Get real, and quick.
