Is the parking lot public? If it's paid they could potentially set up a system where a limited amount of tickets are sold with parking passes, then the rest were available, but only if you can find an alternate means of transport. If they were cheaper these could be a nice way to get kids to come.
UH and the Houston Dynamo never capped tickets sold to mid week games even though UH's Robertson Stadium is a big student/faculty parking area during the week... and the Robertson Parking Spots were part of regular student/faculty parking passes during school days... and UH had 3x more students than CSU... i don't understand what the whole parking problem is.. if UH can do it, why can't a smaller college. UH told students to park in other parking locations during game days, why can't CSU do that?
UH didn't cap our attendance but they did force us to play games much later at night then we'd probably have liked. That's why many games had an 8pm or later kick-off. It was a bullsh*t reason as that place is emptied by around 6, if not earlier.
It's part of the lease deal. Google is your friend. That and the humility to know that the teams that came before you put up with a lot of shit to help make it possible for the later teams to do things differently is also your friend.
My understanding was that it's usually 7,500, but the Galaxy has negotiated an increase for some games by agreeing to park people off-site and shuttle them in.
in regard to LA ticket prices, its a good example for all fans to look at. you want big name skilled players, their salaries have to be covered, and ticket prices (particularly now when ticket rev is a majority percentage of operating income) are going to go up accordingly.
Exactly. Though in typical AEG TANSTAAFL fashion, parking was $20 for the Morelia game, $5 more than usual. I would expect a similar increase should Santos and the Galaxy both advance, regardless of whether capped attendance is at 7,500 or 12,500.
I think they just might do it. Ortiz @ Houston Chronicle says he is working on a story right now about it but his tweet said...... "OrtizKicks" Did you know @HoustonDynamo has had a 100 pct. increase in season ticket sales? BBVA Compass Stadium opener May 12 is essentially sold out."
So it is definitely 7500 for the galaxy but they sold about 1,000 in the last month. Not surprising it was so low but AEG is definitely trying to bring up that number. http://www.sportsbusinessdaily.com/Journal/Issues/2012/02/27/Franchises/AEG-Sports.aspx

Not a solid number (unless someone has the 2011 value) but interesting none the less. http://www.fcdallas.com/news/2012/03/2012-qa-president-ceo-doug-quinn
More good news on the Dallas front. As I recall they already experienced a significant bump after the 2010 Cup run, so with more attendance increases across the board - and less afternoon summer games - we're likely to continue to see real progress in Dallas.
Does anyone know how season ticket sales affect average attendance? If FC Dallas sees a 40% increase in season ticket sales, what is the corresponding change in average attendance?
Depends how many STHs they had last year. If they had 5,000 a 40% increase is a few thousand a game. If they had 1,000, it's only a couple hundred.
I wish those FC Dallas numbers would pop up somewhere from either 2011 or 2012. All I can recall for sure is that they doubled STH from 2010 to 2011, and now another 40% increase from 2011 to 2012. I wish I could put my finger on a final number from any season so I could dissect this equation. Pretty curious to know what's going on down there as I like that team and wished they're see higher attendance.
has there been word of this number in any other official press release or news article? not sure who this guy is ... also if this is true this is a DECREASE of some 3,000 STH!?! that cannot be good for VWFC's attendance.
No one can answer that question because the equation is not complete. Average attendance is made up of season tickets sales, group sales, multi packs, single game tickets etc. Knowing one value with out knowing the others is meaningless. Mathematically, you could have a raise in season ticket sales and still have a drop in average attendance or the same average attendance or a raise in average attendance.
It's not meaningless. I'd say increasing season tickets that much percentage-wise two years in a row is a good thing. I'm not saying I have any idea of FCD's season ticket # or what their average attendance will be but, being incomplete as you stated in the first line and "meaningless" are different. Mathematically you are correct, but this big of a season ticket jump percentage-wise makes it more likely that the overall attendance goes up.
I agree but he was asking for numbers. No one can give those numbers was my point. Hell, even if you knew all the other numbers you still couldn't predict unless you knew exactly how many games the new season ticket holders went to last year by other means. Of course increased season ticket holders is great for many different reasons. Asking for how much the attendance will increase is near impossible to answer IMO.
