He will pause for a moment, then politely remind his interviewer that the Toffees have been a top flight club since 1954, were founding members of the Premier League in 1992, and have beaten Chelsea, Manchester City and Fulham in their last three home games. In other words, his message is that, no matter how well his Seasiders team is playing, Everton are huge favourites tomorrow" Sky Interview With Former Everton Player David Unsworth "I have a lot of great memories from my time, but the FA Cup was special," he told Sky Sports. "Many people forget that we came from nowhere that season, Joe Royle came in and turned us around, and we went from relegation strugglers to finishing the season as FA Cup winners, beating Manchester United in the final." Unsworth admits that the FA Cup did mean more in his time, but he puts that down to increasing interest in other competitions. "The FA Cup lost a lot of magic, although I think in recent years it is beginning to get back to previous levels," he said. "I personally think the main reason is down to the Champions League and the impact that has made on the game. "Suddenly the FA Cup has only become the third most important competition for most clubs, but winning the FA Cup is still a huge thing." Unsworth himself remains a true Evertonian, and after leaving his role as first-team coach at Preston earlier this season, he has been enjoying a number of visits to his beloved Goodison. "I have been able to get to a number of games and I have seen the cup matches, and I will be there again on Saturday," he said. And he is one of those Evertonian's who is confident that they could be seeing a repeat of 1995. "I really do think that everyone is starting to think about Wembley now, after drawing Blackpool at home, and that is no disrespect to them, I think confidence is high. more
Is anyone familiar with Blackpool? What their strengths and weaknesses are; who their best players are, etc. I didn't watch Blackpool very much at all last season (the only season they've ever been in the EPL), and about all I remember is that they had nice looking tangerine jerseys, seemed to have pretty good attacking ability, but were pretty woeful defensively.
Courtesy of www.soccerbase.com I dug up some stats on Blackpool. Blackpool are currently 5th in the Championship with a record of 14 wins, 10 draws, and 7 losses. Thankfully, Blackpool's away record in the league is pretty mediocre, at 5 wins, 6 draws, and 5 losses. In those 16 games, Blackpool has scored an impressive 27 goals, but have also given up 27 goals. Blackpool's top scorer this season is former England international and EPL veteran, Kevin Phillips, who has scored 10 goals in the Championship thus far. Other scoring threats are forward Gary Taylor-Fletcher (7 goals) and Matt Phillips (no relation to Kevin; 6 goals). By comparison, Everton have scored 14 goals and given up 13 goals in our EPL home matches. Everton's "top" league scorers have each scored a paltry 3 goals.
Hope it goes well - have to admit this is where I'll be today during the match: http://wolfcreekski.com/wolf-creek-photos.php COYB!
Can't believe we didn't score 5 or 6. Great games by Stracq, Drenthe, and ,again, Fellaini. It really looks like men against boys when Fellaini is near the ball.

One of Everton's best showings this year, I'd say. Especially that 1st half. It would be nice though to have a bit better finishing -- the Toffees' looked all too familiar in the 2nd half when they flubbed scoring opportunity after scoring opportunity. I really like the lineup Moyes fielded, especially having Fellaini in the spot Tim Cahill usually plays. About the only change to today's lineup I'd make would be to have Pienaar play in Gueye's place on the left wing. And if we wanted a more attacking 4-4-2 lineup, I'd pull Hibbert and put Neville at right fullback, and put in Jelavic or Anichebe up front with Stracq.
Was Jelavic available yesterday? Would have liked to seen him used as a sub at the end to get his feet wet with the club if so...
he was injured. not even two weeks training with us and injured in training. There is something seriously wrong with EFC training grounds and/or methods. every other week someone is injured.
