I'd be OK with Fucito as well, but what's the negative on Folan?

Isn't a prolific scorer for a striker and has a fairly high salary. I'd still take him though, he's still pretty decent at the MLS level and we have a truckload of cap space

From the half-dozen times I saw him play with Colorado, he looked slow, lazy and was a bad passer.

He was good at trying to get on the end of things and get shots off, but useless in buildup play. When Casey went down, Folan should've OWNED that position, and instead he Kenny Coopered it (Kenny Cooper Lite, even less substance than Cooper in the box, and without Cooper's buildup play).

We've already got our #9, we've drafted a big body, Jaqua is still looming out there--so what we really need is either a Mattocks-type speedster (guess Jay thinks Nyassi can fit this bill) and/or then a terrier like Fucito to play off of the big man.

We don't just need bodies at striker, we need options, and we don't have options right now.

I still feel that the brief streak of goals Nyassi's twin brother found in Colorado last year when he was moved centrally is sticking in Jay's mind too much.

Brettschneider looked like he could be a difference maker at this level. He would not get much more than the league minimum anyway.

Folan may be a serious option for you guys. I would expect more from him than Pepe.

Honestly, I have no idea why you guys did not resign Lekic if this was all you were going to bring in. The other two guys probably had the Revolution as a second option but Lekic just wanted decent offer.

Yeah, Folan had a concrete touch and was mostly living off his international pedigree and Premier League experience. I'd say he's worth no more than 150k in the MLS market. Seemed to lack confidence as well.

The report is he wanted a guaranteed contract which the Revs were unwilling to grant.

couple times I saw him with DC last year, I thought the kid had potential. Certainly would not hurt to bring him in and take a look

    And here I am!

The Vallecaucano (He's from that region) Confirmed that He Will Keep Being Part of the Manizales Team (Once Caldas) and Will Not go to the United States

Jose Pepe Moreno will stay dressed in white and speaking Spanish. The Once Caldas forward in the end will stay and his moving to soccer of the U.S. was put off, at least for now.

Many affirmed that Pepe had a firm (fixed) contract with New England Revolution of the MLS, but it all remained rumors and the 30 year old player will remain in Manizales.

    (and later on)

Even though Moreno confirmed that the MLS offer was economically tempting, the chance to shine at Once seduced him more.

IN OTHER WORDS, FOLKS, IT SAYS HE AIN'T COMING

I wonder how many days Burnsie's teletype machine will take to transmit this news to the FO.

I also wonder if they really did have an agreement and the info that we uncovered that the dude has been injured since December with muscle problems made the FO think again.

Pepe Moreno continues to wear white and speak spanish. The Once Caldas striker will stay with the Manizales club as his deal to the United States is deferred, at least for now.

Reports say he had a contract arranged with the NE Revs of MLS, but all stayed in rumors? and the 30 year old player stays in Manizales.

The attacker was recovering from a muscle bother and had not played in 2012 he confirmed to ligapostobon.com today he only thinks of Once Caldas. "I love this city and this team. I always wanted to play here" said the forward who returned during the middle of last year.

The return of Dayro Moreno also unfluenced partially that Pepe stayed with the White-White(Once Caldas). "Yes, Dayro encouraged me to stay and to fight to achieve the title midway through the year", confirmed the attacker, who hopes to set a time to return to the pitch.

"I am working hard to fight for a spot in the attack. There are good players and we're all able to be starters", said the ex player of Independiente Argentina and Steaua Bucharest.

Although Moreno confirmed that the offer of MLS was better economically, the option of shining with Once was more appealing. Including rejecting offers to return to Millos and play with Junior(not quite sure there)? The offers for those teams were better, but I want to be happy and I am here.", said the man born in Santander de Quilichao, who has formed the relation with coach Pompilio Paez that could not be better. "I appreciate and respect the coach a lot. If there were problems, they are in the past. He is the one who leads and I obey his decisions."

The forward, who also played with Juan Aurich of Peru, and in Colombia at Cali de America, Millonarios, Huila, Pasto and Quindio, aspires to make a point to fight for a spot at forward with Once.

Damn, Autogolazo beat me to it.

Have to say I'm happy with this news. He didn't sound like starter material and he would have eaten up a potential international spot. An absolute embarrassment for the Revs though, as they'd all but held a press conference introducing him. This seems to happen way too often.

    Wow.

    This raises so many questions.

If true, this marks a new low for the FO.

I'm happy on both counts--that yet ANOTHER injured guy on the wrong side of 30 isn't joining our team, and that the FO is thoroughly embarrassed.

    This is a "two-fer".

Moreno doesn't want to join an organization associated with losing the Super Bowl. I don't blame him for waiting until the results were in!

I really can't believe this is true. The Revs never, ever, prematurely announce a signing.

Never fear, gang! Messrs. Bilello, Burns and Heaps (aka, "The 'New-and-Improved' Three Stooges") are pleased to announce that the New England Revolution have acquired a famous Striker in advance of the 2012 MLS season.

Striker is the first player identified and signed by the Revolution's newly-appointed Director of Scouting, Slyde, who said:

"We're thrilled to be bringing an internationally-recognized Striker to the Revolution. He's no stranger to New England soccer supporters, having entertained capacity crowds at Foxboro Stadium during the 1994 FIFA World Cup."

"I thought about signing several players on my international scouting trip - Guachito, Footix, Goleo, and Zakumi were all considered - but, ultimately, Striker stood out."

"He has a "nose for the net". A really BIG "nose for the net". Almost abnormally BIG. More importantly, given our budget constraints - uh, considerations - he already owned a uniform in our team colors."

George, there's a reason why Joe Paterno was fired.

It is now about a month before opening day, and the club has no starting forwards or left back. Burns will not lose his job over this. Someone over Burns in the hierarchy would have to notice that there was a problem. Therefore, it is not just Burns. There is a culture of failure at the club, and someone from outside the club needs to come in with a big broom.

The Krafts in the past have replaced key personnel in other parts of their organization when the on field results were suffering. John-boy said our results were poor because the organization wasn't working and moved the pieces around create a more responsive organization. It appears to all concerned that the reorganization was insufficient to correct a core function af management. John-boy isn't blind and I doubt he wants to be the owner of a franchise that is progressively becoming a laughing stock. I'm not willing to suggest when but my intuition says Burns is a dead man walking. Burns is responsible for the absolutely essential role of finding and successfully signing key players and over the past three years that function has been at best inadequately done.
