Well, his paycheque will be more impressive, but with Anderlecht he has a chance to play Champions League, at Fulham he might be lucky if they get Euro league.
I actually think he'd do better in a less physical and more technical league. Germany would probably be the best fit.
I've never understood the thought that playing in the Champions league has some magical effect on a players abilities. For a team like Anderlecht, the CL is likely 6, maybe 8 games at the most. Is staying in a "lesser" league, but playing in a few CL games, more beneficial than playing an entire seasons worth of games in a significantly better league?
You beat me to it. Belgian teams have qualified for the group stages only 3 times in the past six years (so when you say that for a team like Anderlecht the CL is likely only 6 matches, it would be more accurate to say that it's just as likely to be only 2 or 4 matches). In addition, a team from Belgium hasn't advanced out of the group stages in over a decade. Edit: Just confirmed that it looks like the two Belgian CL qualifiers start in the 3rd qualifying round next season, which means you'd need to win two home/away series just to make the group stages.
Agreed. So either a 6 game CL run or 12 games v ManU, MCFC, Spurs, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool in the EPL. I vote Fulham.
Maybe Americans won't understand but for Europeans the CL is the cream of the crop. CL is valued much higher than any domestic league. Playing in the premier league is amazing though and ideally he plays CL with Anderlecht next year and then makes a move to England
Not sure how this could be. There is a lot the Sacha is, what he ain't is a creative midfielder with set piece delivery expertise.
Then where does Sacha play for Anderlecht? I'm not sure if I've even seen him play for them, but my understanding is that if you were to compare his role to that of a player at Fulham, it most closely approximates Danny Murphy. Not to mention that Martin Jol might be seeking to replace Danny with someone who is not an exact like for like replacement.
Apparently you haven't followed Kljestan's career at all. He was Chivas USA's attack for long periods of time. He scored on a free kick from 30 yards out against Sweden after Camp Cupcake. The reason Kljestan fell so far is that once lost his mojo, he wasn't able to convert the same passes and shots that he had before. It was not until he moved to Anderlecht that he had the chance to play a holding role. In Belgium, he gets to sit back and be more selective about his chances instead of having the onus of being the creator in the attack. Murphy may have good games for Fulham, but he's not running the show anymore. His role is like Klestan's at Anderlecht. I don't know if Kljestan would succeed in the EPL, but playing in Murphy's role at Fulham would give him a great shot.
Kljestan was always a quality MLS midfielder on a mediocre team. He almost signed for Celtic a few years back which obviously Kljestan was looking forward to, but the deal didn't happen. After the failed transfer, Kljestan definitely lost his mojo. He was playing pretty mediocre, but he got his wish and went to Anderlecht. He wasn't considered a full time starter even though he was playing pretty well and whenever Kljestan would start, Anderlecht would win nearly every game. Their record with Kljestan was considerably higher with him starting than without him starting. Now Kljestan has proven himself and is doing very well. I wouldn't be surprised if a bigger club comes asking for his services considering he would be pretty cheap.
I haven't been able to to watch him much since his move to Anderlecht, but according to Greg he has quite the list of admirers. http://www.noshortcorners.com/2012/02/from-stuff-youll-know-once-you-read.html
This should read "The reason Kljestan fell so far is that when he cut his hair, he wasn't able to harness the same class and smarts that he had before" Fortunately, he's finally coming around. I thought he was incredible with CDUSA back in the day..the last match he played with his hair was the hat-trick with the USMNT...IIRC anyway.
Depending on the amount of money offered, he is gone if Fulham really makes a bid. Just hope he doesn't turn out to be Jovanovic 2.0 when he arrives in the premier league.
You can watch Belgian league games here. Quality of the streams is rather poor though. http://sports-livez.blogspot.com/
