The only thing holding this back would be the politics of FIFA and its confederations, because economically, this would be the most successful Copa America in history.
well, there is a direct quote mentioning a good chance the US gets an invite, so i'd say that was pretty big, depending on the value you put on the competition.

Revs stadium in Revere? Representatives for Robert Kraft have been in contact with Revere Mayor Daniel Rizzo about building a stadium for the New England Revolution, according to a report in the Lynn, Mass. Daily Item. Rizzo is working on plan for the 26-acre Wonderland Greyhound Park which was shut down on August 19, 2010; shortly after the state-wide ban on dog racing went into effect. Rizzo is exploring the potential of a satellite college campus with private businesses surrounding it, an arts and cultural center or possibly a stadium for the New England Revolution. I doubt that Kraft bites at this opportunity unless it is a tremendously good deal. There really isn't much of a reason to leave a stadium you already own to pay rent in another facility, no matter how well situated it may be.

hmmm Looking at the last stop on the blue line It's less than 10 miles from downtown so it looks pretty good. It looks not very far.
Good news. Hope they get started on it soon. They are in dire need of a Kansas City style makeover. There's gotta be some rebranding potential with a team based in a place called Revere and near Wonderland.
It's on the blue line, which runs from Revere into dowtown. Article says 21 minute ride. The stop would be steps away. It's also on a route which has fairly direct access to Boston and the airport. Location wise, the only thing lacking is walking distance bars and restaurants. Not a place you'd really walk around.
Well the pubs and restaurants would probably spring up around a new stadium. That's kind of what they're expecting in Houston from what I've read.
That's also what they were expecting in Colorado. Far as I can tell there hasn't been a new business in the area in 5 seasons. Houston probably has a better location for that to happen in, but its still no guarentee.
Well no need to change the Revolution name if they move to a town called Revere much closer to Boston Common than they presently are. They might want to go "Boston" rather than New England. But this is creating very little stir on the Revs board, and they earned their cynicism.
When the mayor says he's had only "informative" emails with representatives of Bob Kraft, I can't say I'm thinking they're going to announce this as ready to go at any point in this decade. I do know people in Mayor Rizzo's campaign are fans and talked to him about this, find the "Move The Revs To Wonderland" group on Facebook.
Well, being in Commerce City doesn't help, when you've got Stapleton right down the street. It's worked out a bit better in Frisco.
This is one of the reasons why I'm happy Sporting went with the locations at the Legends vs the Bannister Mall site that had come up before the Legends. At Bannister, KC was going to have to get businesses to come in and build on the site along with the stadium. When it was still looked at as the primary location, there was a lot of talk about lack of interest in building "currently" at the site. Even though the Legends is on the opposite side of town from me and the Bannister location who have been right down the street, already having the restaurants, stores, etc around has been a plus.
There are plusses and minuses to the site (though i would be thrilled if they put it there even if it would be harder for me to get to). The commuter rail line from the north shore area abuts the site (there is no platform there right now, but is possible). On the other hand, traffic is horrible and it would be complicated and expensive to re-engineer (as has been discussed on the Revs board). However, they have to do it sometime, anyway. It is right across the street from Revere Beach, a very popular summer destination. That could make it a real mess in the summer....
They also may be putting a casino right across the way at Suffolk Downs (unless Kraft gets the Casino at Foxboro, it is one or the other). Traffic is going to be quite messy with or without a soccer stadium, especially in the Summer
Some bars & restaurants were already here at the BBVA Compass Stadium site long before the stadium's plans ever were. The hope we have now for the East End area is that the number of these establishments increases with the arrival of the stadium, as well as light rail, a pedestrian promenade, and possibly 2 Convention Center Hotels all planned for the area.
