Setanta showed the semi final between arsenal and tottenham as well as both legs of the final a few years ago. Interesting how much attention it will get on a free to view channel though

City's young lads beat Swindon 4-1 in the 4th round last night, good attendnace of 1601 and great selection of England youth internationals, 9 of them altogether, with another 5 eligible.

Gunn, Coulson, Meppen-Walter, Plummer, Leigh, Evans (Hutton 58), Drury, Rusnak, Cole, Hiwula (Glendon 86), Henshall (King 88)

    Unused subs:

Can't say I was that impressed by Man Utd. Although nice to see Barmby getting two and Wilson returning and looking lively.

Quite a poor FA Youth Cup so far this year for quality from what I've seen.

My outside tip for the competition in Derby gone then. Got the harshest of draws :D

My actual tip, West Ham, now rides on them knocking out my Chelsea :(

I'm still backing Southampton as you'd expect. They have scored 21 goals with only 1 in reply in their last 6 games in league and cup. They have either Forest or Wigan in the 5th round at home so they should make the last 8 if it goes to form.

Also I see they now have another England U17 debut on the way, Calum Chambers. That makes 3.

West Ham must be favourites for that one. Chelsea have been poor so far.
Let's hope Fanimo is fit for it (he came off towards the end of the last tie after a knock). I'm wondering if it'll come too soon for Loftus-Cheek - or is he ahead of schedule now?

NB Just noticed the Chelsea game is later than I thought it would be - 15/2 which presumably would give RLC enough time to return.

He reckoned he'd be back at the end of Jan, tie is mid-Feb.

We beat them away in the league and deserved to beat them at home but lost in stoppage time. The difference will be the additional players who come in that didn't play in those league games. For Chelsea, that's Lucas Piazon (only played 45 mins over the two games) and Nathaniel Chalobah (played in the win, not the defeat) and for West Ham it's Dan Potts and Rob Hall, who've played first team this season.

Quite surprised City keep getting ignored when it comes to favourites for the youth cup. Top of our league, 2nd highest scorers in the country, 12 England youth internationals in the squad with a few Irish, Welsh and a Slovakian as well.

It will be a good game in the next round aginst Fulham.

Highlights against Swindon below, the 3rd goal is the kind of football this team has been playing this season, beautiful goal, some strike by the Swindon player as well.

Try and get to see the 4th goal by Sam McQueen of Southampton v Sheffield (4 one touch passes and then a first time shot) and Man City's 3rd v Swindon (25 passes and then a one touch finish) Quality without question.

I've not seen either City or Southampton yet. Only the highlights that City provide. They mentioned Drury being an England youth international on that link but I can't recall him being capped.

We have no chance unless Rothwell gets back soon.

I am surprised Chelsea aren't doing that well. Don't they have most of last year's squad minus McEachran available?

Nah, we're missing Deen-Conteh, Billy Clifford, Tomas Kalas, George Saville, Milan Lalkovic, Rohan Ince and also Pappoe injured as well as McEachran. There's six or seven first years as well as a schoolboy or two regularly involved this time.

Is it true that ITV4 are showing 6 FA Youth Cup games live this year ?

If true, I'm presuming these 6 games will be both legs of the final and both legs of the two semi's.

It is true but it starts next season. None in any contract for this campaign.

I think its time the FA youth cup did get more publicity.

I would go as far as to say they should show more than 6 games live. Add possibly a QF fixture and Last 16 one.

The quarter finals shape up like this:

1Newcastle United or Queens Park Rangers v Blackburn Rovers or Stoke City
2Swansea City or Manchester United v Charlton Athletic or Tottenham Hotspur
3Manchester City or Fulham v West Bromwich Albion or Burnley
4Southampton or Nottingham Forest v Chelsea or West Ham United

More of a reflection of a weak/young defense and the lack of alternatives in central midfield. Was arguably our best player before his injury.

In the absence of any accumulated statistics I typically try once a season to collate the leading scorers in the academy league. With this in mind, can you guys post the top goalscorers at your club to get things off and running? League and FAYC combined (no reserves though). Ta.
