And the current FIFA CWC is clear continuation of the Intercontinental Cup, a competition Beckham did win in 1999.

 

I remember that tournament and the United match against Vasco (my Brazilian team). Beckham was on the bench, Edmundo and Romario were beasting. The Edmundo goal is still one of my favorites.

Yes he has. He was in the 2000 one. For some reason they also held an Intercontinental Cup (which United won - IIRC Giggs won a Toyota for being MOTM ).

Man Utd actually sucked in that first CWC. They tied with Necaxa (Beckham got sent off) and lost to Vasco De Gama, meaning they didn't qualify from their group. There was a massive controversy about it because in order to fit it into the schedule, they had to pull out of the FA Cup.
