I have been ill for an extended period and still in and out of the hospital, so I've been mostly MIA. I've been keeping up with the soccer news to some degree, though just not as much as I would like. I hope to be around more and hope everyone is well!

PS - I had a random Lebieber street sighting last fall; it's weird to see players out of context.

Does anyone get Universal Sports Network on their TV? I don't, and it appears that few people do. I know that you can watch the games on their web site. But recordings off the internet don't look as good as recordings off TV. If someone can record the qualifiers off TV, and would like to trade videos, lemme know.

P.S. I am posting here in the legendary Krispy Kreme thread because I don't think a question about the Universal Sports Network deserves its own thread.

Oh wow. I'm sorry to hear about your illness. I wish you the best for recovery & future health :(

Universal Sports was over the air where I am until the start of 2012. Whe NBC started their NBCSports channel, they took US off the over the air and a bunch of cable companies have yet to pick it up in their various tiers. Same w/ the NBCSports channel. At least, TimeWarner hasn't picked them up.

Whew. Let's see. I watched the following over like 2 weeks. Although most were done during last week.

    New to me:

Immortals - Pretty good, liked the fights and story
Clash of the Titans - Cool effects, decent fights, mediocre story. Not enough focus on the gods.
P.S. I Love You - Kinda depressing, obviously. Tried to lighten the mood, but felt odd.
The Rebound - A cute B movie with Catherine Zeta Jones, a divorced mom of 2, who hires a 20-something coffee boy to be her nanny. They eventually start dating.
Couples Retreat - Holy ********ing shit this was bad. Don't bother. I laughed once in 2 hours. ONCE.
Rise of the Planet of the Apes - Pretty damn good, actually. Not what I was expecting.
Buck - Documentary about the life of Buck Brannaman, the real life horse whisperer they based the movie on. Less about horses and more about him. He's a pretty damn interesting guy.
Critical Care: Preachy 90s dramady about health care/right to die/insurance companies, etc. It was actually pretty decent. James Spader, Kyra Sedgewick, Helen Mirren.
No Strings Attached: Cute. Predictable, but cute. I kinda liked Portman and Kutcher together. Then again, I like Kutcher for some strange reason.
Rabbit Hole: Sad and sweet. A couple deals with the death of their small son. No real climax, but it's one of those movies that sucks you in and keeps you there the whole time.

    Re-watched:

Something's Gotta Give - Awesome. Diane Keaton is hot. I always stop watching it about 5 minutes before the end. I don't like the ending.
Gladiator - I FF until he gets captured. I also watch all of the scenes with Connie Nielsen.
The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and Her Lover - Still disgusting. Still enjoyable, if only for the costumes and sets.
Calendar Girls - A bit slow, but a good movie.
Prime Suspect - UK TV series (Still working on this, as there's 6 or 7 seasons and I'm just 2 in) - So far, so good. Really good, actually. They more or less based 'The Closer' on this series. Except Helen Mirren's character is more hardened and prone to drink and have one night stands than eat chocolate. Which is so much cooler. Even though I do love Kyra Sedgwick.
Star Trek (2009) - I love this movie because I actually like this Kirk, and really, I love the whole cast.
Kissing Jessica Stein - The movie all potential LUGs should be forced to watch. I still dislike the ending, but it works out for everyone in the end.
Sphere - Still a WTH kind of movie.
The River Wild - The killer river rapids are much less scary than they were 10+ years ago, when I last watched this. Streep was still kind of hot.

And I tried like hell to watch 'Caligula,' but the Netflix stream wasn't working and I couldn't find a decent bootleg online.

    I'm sure there's a couple more(!), but I can't remember them all.

According to those Method videos they are brainwashing us with in Marketing class, most fabric softeners use beef tallow. So make sure you throw some fries in the dryer next cycle. ;)

Now I'm gonna hear that Irish guy's voice in my head saying, "P.S. I luv yah!" Lord the sky is falling and I can't locate my convict "ex-roommate" who still has the keys to my room. Jesus be a missile that blows that heffa up!

Hi everyone; wish I had come back under better circumstance :(

    Women's Professional Soccer: 2010-2012, R.I.P??

Utter sadness, I'm feeling today. The Independence was only the 2nd Philly sports team in the city's long pro sports history to make it to the championship game of its league in the first 2 seasons of its existence (USFL Stars, 1984-85 the other). Not the Phillies, not the Sixers, not the Flyers, not the 'all-in' Beagles (as in Castillo in, Reid in, Banner in, Lurie in, with no accountability). Litigation can take eons to wind through the courts, and Borislow has decided on the scorched-earth route. He won't care how long it takes. I fear we may have seen the end of WPS today. Thanks, Indy, for 2 great years.

you know, i saw it coming. i guess, not to sound rude, that's why i never even watched a game. after the WUSA, i had no reason to believe that women's soccer would ever take off in the US. i mean, they only get talked about for NT games, and even then it's very little. even US Soccer doesn't like them.

    which is sad.

but, you know. it's what happens when you have a vagina. girls shouldn't play sports! duh. 2012 and the stance will never change.

My roommate finally moved her stuff out. Thankfully she didn't steal any more of my stuff. Today was a bummer but it got a bit better and I saw a cutie I've had my eye on.

ugh, a klepto? Good riddance. Hopefully you got your keys back, too. Did she just steal stuff like food or was she into larger, non-consumable items? I lived with a food-stealer before and it was mostly just a mild annoyance.

Looks like I will be attending a party for the upcoming pigskin/Madonna mashup. Though people here actually seem less crazed than I expected, so there's that.

She stole one of my textbooks. It took everything in my power not to beat her a**. She fed her own snack habit. All she ever did besides sleep was eat.

I'm excited about the Superbowl.....commercials. My food option is pretty much taken care of (wings). I just have to find a rowdy bunch to sip beverages with. I won't enjoy the game I hate the Giants and the Patriots.

    You mean about the league?

I got burned so thoroughly by WUSA's collapse, I didn't let myself get attached to WPS. Even when Sola and Mykjå were here.

Maybe I'll get someone's unwanted Abby Wambach jersey out of this mess. That'd be SWEET!

    Poor taste? Too soon? Yes?
