in the states it was usually banana, but since i moved to europe its either honey or hazelnoot wit (kinda like deluxe nutella) - i also remain unopposed to jelly (grape or strawberry) - one time we made our own banana jam... we put that on a PB sand and it was like a dream come true peanut butter rules
I'll second the bacon option definitely. Plus if you make a normal PB+J sandwich (raspberry jam) and add bacon it's a delight. One of Elvis' loves apparently too. And I think it should be made clear that anyone who uses smooth peanut butter is quite clearly harbouring homosexual tendencies.
Well, it was invented here! It was invented by George Washington Carver at the Tuskegee Institute in Alabama. Evidence suggests the Incas of South America were using it too, but Carver arrived at it independently here.
No Marshmallow Fluff listed? I think it's a Northeastern US thing, maybe even just New England. It was a staple of a kids diet when I was growing up. I haven't had a Fluffernutter in years. I might just go buy a jar of Fluff tonight.
I have recently had my first fluffernutter, it was great. I like to eat peanut butter and: bread and butter pickles honey and banana And my mom eats it with jelly and sausage links. I am going to have to try it with bacon.
Fluff'll kill ya...I like just PB and bread...I like crunchy over smooth, mainly b/c when I eat the smooth, my son acts like I tried to burn his HESS truck collection...
yeah i forgot to mention that crunchy rules... except for when its peanut butter only on a toasted bagel - i love how the PB melts on the hot bread as for fluff, i'd never had that either
Peanut butter is probably one of my absolute favorite foods. I like it straight outta the jar with a spoon, plain on bread, with strawberry jelly or honey for a sammitch, and I gotta agree that peanut butter on a toasted bagel is awesome! So I guess that my official answer to the poll would be All of the above. My PB of choice is reduced fat Jif. I love crunchy but it tends to make the roof of my mouth sore. And I really can't tell the difference between the reduced and full-fat versions.
If you're going down, the 'just bread' route then you have to toast the bread and have a goodly helping of a really nice butter on there melting away.
I used to be a reduced fat Jif guy, but I've switched to the "natural" style (the ones you have to stir up because the oil separates out on top). The natural ones only have like 10% more calories than the "reduced fat" and no saturated fats, which are not good eats. I am also a creamy peanut butter zealot. I like my crunch in my breakfast cereal, not in my sandwich. I was going to add that it was inconceivable that I was the only one who voted grape jelly with their peanut butter, but someone else sees the light. It's OK to switch away from grape to another form of jelly for a little while, but you gotta go back to grape in the end.
I eat almond butter sometimes and you have to stir it like that. It's not as good as peanut butter though. Too gritty. I'll have to look into the natural styles of PB.
I'm a massive burger fan too. It's rather worrying really. I'll try to emulate him less. I don't like the way he ended.
I can't believe anybody didn't menton chopped ONION (for a lunch sandwich of course, not breakfast). They are perfect foils for each other! Better have some breathmints handy if you have a meeting afterwards, though!
I put sambal on my peanut butter sandwiches. Sambal is Indonesian chili paste. My father is from Indo, and he made the best peanut butter sauces, which included a good dose of sambal. Great on a sandwich.
Peanut butter. Was this a trick poll? And I shall add that people who prefer crunchy peanut butter are clearly harboring a metrosexual tendency. {chortle}
