We are about ready for another four rounds of draft picks presenting an opportunity to restock the team with "potential" signings. We need roster depth and practice players who may just turn out to develop into gameday quality. Lets discuss who we draft and their potential here.

I am not much of a college follower, but from what I saw watching the combine online, I thought midfielders Kohei Yamada, (YI), Alec Purdie, (IU), and Andy Rose, (UCLA) did alright. Plus up top: Evans Frimpong (DEL), & Luke Holmes (Akron). Defender Nick Blake from UCONN, maybe?

Might have missed one or two but I think this is a list of all the players that were at the combine but were not drafted:
    Chavez Justin CB Tulsa
    Garcia Gienir CB Youth International
Walls Tony DM Wisconsin - Green Bay
    Banton Jason Mid Youth International
    Purdie Alec WMF Indiana
    Gorentzvaig Yuri FWD Youth International
    de Almeida Diogo LB SMU
    Blake Nick RB Connecticut *
    Rose Andy MF UCLA *
    Green Michael CM New Mexico
Yamada Kohei AMF Youth International *
    Ivo Arthur CM/LM SMU
    Finlay Ethan FWD Creighton *
    Okiomah Karo FWD High Point
    Holmes Luke FWD Akron *
    Singh Shawn LB UCLA
    Rodriguez Charles CB Charlotte
    Bates Mykell RB Santa Calra
    Maund Aaron CB Notre Dame
    Walker Kenney DM Louisville
    Ubierna Benjamin DMF Youth International
    Ibarra Miguel CM UC Irvine
    James Evan Mid/Fwd Charlotte *
    Ownby Brian FWD Virginia
    Frimpong Evans FWD Delaware
    Bonfigli Emiliano MF Youth International
    Obando Jhojan GK Providence
    Kiffe James LB UCSB *
    Sigler Patrick CB Cal Poly
    Allen RJ RB/LB Monmouth
    Urso Kirk DM North Carolina
Garcia Rafael DM California - NorthRidge
    Rozeboom Lance CM New Mexico
Paniagua Aldo CM Youth International *
    Barreiro Christian M Pennsylvania
    Arreola Eder LM UCLA *
    Gaul Bryan FWD Bradley *
    Hoppenot Antoine FWD Princeton
    * There are players I feel they should look at for depth and need. Couple had decent combines like James and Yamada and others like Gaul and Arreola didn't but came in as players to keep and eye on.

From that list, Notre Dame's Aaron Maund would be a nice addition to the Revs' back line although you'd be pairing a rookie + Soares, so maybe not.

Except that Aaron Maund was drafted by Toronto at #12 in the first round...

suspect there are players that weren't at the combine that can be drafted as well and those on the above list.

There's a gem on that list somewhere.

Is there going to be live coverage anywhere?

I doubt it. I think it's done by conference call with the results posted shortly thereafter on MLS net.

You'll also want to take these two off the list.

It sounds as though the youth internationals may be the pick of his bunch. Is there any harm in taking the best available, and letting him fight for a spot?

IMO Yamada is the best available here, but I can't possibly see us taking on another midfielder to fight for a spot. Who is the best remaining forward? To me, it seems much more worthwhile for them to fight for a spot then yet another midfielder.

Paniagua and Yamada looked the best to me but they are Midfielders. Unless they are going to be better than Boggs, Mansally or Nyassi(which doesn't take much) then and they really won't be worth the international hit.

My feeling is Heaps goes for Forwards and Defenders. I would not be surprised to see him pick a keeper either

My gut still says Evans Frimpong from Delaware.

If we end up cutting Boggs or Nyassi in favor of Yamada, would that be a bad thing? Heaps wants a possession-oriented team.

Mike, you've mentioned him a couple of times. What have you heard about him?

oh yeah, i think Yamada would be a huge upgrade over these guys, or at the very least Boggs. my concern is that we're realistically only going to have a shot at either Yamada or Frimpong in the first round. i can't see these guys lasting to round 2 (i could of course be proven wrong but it seems unlikely based on their combine performances).

at this point, despite Yamada being an asset to upgrade the likes of Boggs and Nyassi, i think we are more desperate for depth at FW and DF. we did the smart thing and take Rowe in superdraft round 1 when a lot of people said that we needed to take a forward (including myself). now i think we can go ahead and get the depth at forward that we need.

Just pick talent. These guys are heading straight to the reserve team.

The team needs to sign players in order to fill its roster holes.

Nothing specific, but he's one of the best forwards left, his style fits what I think Heaps is trying to do, and I'm betting that Heaps called his buddy Brian Ainsclough at Northeastern to get a scouting report on him.

Just trying to put pieces of the puzzle together.
