anything I searched for already seem to be "old" groups not getting much attention posting wise so was just using other means to find out if there are any more recent groups out there.
Most of the city-centric supporters groups have their own pages (Chicago Spurs, NY Spurs, etc.). I'm not aware of a nationwide Facebook group.
In. Supposedly, a few hang out at the Old Angle Pub.. Maybe we should get up there for Everton next Wednesday if they're open.
I'd be down for that. Wednesday is the only day I can't do anything next week. Stupid FA for not recognizing my schedule.
This guy has a serious football club forum fetish. He was run out of COYS after some google searches came up with him being a fan of every ********ing team in the world.
DC has a group (on facebook) that I joined late last year. I need to make the games at the bar they meet up at but I SO hate driving into DC.
COYS, I won't knock it even though it trys to be a select members only type of club. The problem wasn't that I was a fan of every club and I explained that when spoken to. I went into other forums just as every other person out there does as I like to see what the "other" teams are saying. Sure, I act nicely in those forums instead of acting like the idiot. I do support various clubs from around the world just as many do on this forum for example. Borussia Dortmund, Spurs, Napoli, FC Twente, and Seattle Sounders. I have for years. Thankfully, there are tons of other Spurs forums out there to have good conversations with as anyone can check on my history. Those in control at COYS need only have come to talk to me and even give me a slap on the wrist and that would have been fine. No big loss as I have never been keen on the "We are more elite than you" mentality. As I said, some other very nice Spurs forums out there. That along with some local Tottenham friends I have met from various metal music festivals and the trips to White Hart Lane have been quite fun.
Nor was I even trying. I am one of the most friendly forum chatters around. That said, COYS thinks too much of themselves anyways. Despite that fact, there were so many cool people I met on that forum including my fellow Spurs supporter who lives in Germany who I hung out at a few BVB Dortmund matches so that forum was a great experience except for the mistaken identity.
Yeah, that is what I figured. There is mostly just Man U type groups in the AZ area and one of Arsenscum so I had no expectations within Arizona but I was hoping for some sort of unified US or North American one. Thanks for the reply.
Oh I know. Damn thing is I am at work and they probably have two hench men in dark suits and dark sunglasses outside my apartment door and only the door lays between them and my poor fat cat's safety.
Look for more of and Arizona one. I was living in Tucson a few years ago and there were 3 of us on BS (one was at the U of A - and he said a few more in town) and a few in Phoenix. For a while, we were bigger than Arsenal.
I know there are probably a few out there from this state but it will be hard with out some sort of organized place for people to find each other on facebook. That said, I have seen other clubs with organized USA ones that not only provide them with a place to hang out and chat. It also is so organized in helping them with tickets to matches and what not. That is why, I am not just looking for one particular city's group although I have joined up with the New jersey, New York, and LA's group pages on fb.
That is definitely a multiple person job from what I see from friends who happen to be supporters of other clubs when it comes to at least the usual old "big four" clubs. Their North American groups are well organized and in contact with the club especially when it comes to being able to get available tickets for their members. That is just one aspect as they have newsletters and what not. Granted, I will continue being a bronze international lily white member so I can handle tickets. It is just more of having an easy first place that new people, or old supporters for that sake, can all find to talk about the club and what not. So many people use facebook, I just think it is a good idea. That said, I am sure those that used to run CAATS and shut it down when all the various states groups started up must have had a reason to stop it.
There's your problem right there. You are imagining what all needs to be in such a group when it is fully mature rather than imagining just starting it getting it going and letting it mature as you gain people and support. Just start it on Facebook and be as persistent there as you are here. It will naturally grow. As you gain people, you gain the ability to do these other things. So, go for it! Start the Facebook group.
