Rayo Vallecano have been rumored to be interested in Freddy Adu for awhile, and now it looks like they are trying to arrange an informal trial/training session. Unfortunately for Adu, the u23 camps seem to keep getting in the way. I apologize to the mods for the late Christmas present of a new Adu thread to monitor
No problem. In fact, why don't you wait there for a second I'll be right back. We've got a present for you, too. Kidding, prowazekii, of course. Hope Freddy does well.
Vallecano is in the first division this year. Out of the drop zone as well, though it will be a battle for them to stay up.
Seltzer says this, but didn't Porter say the February camp was likely going to be in Florida? Even if it isn't, with MLS teams in preseason preparations, the camp pretty much has to be stateside.
Freddy tweeted that he is leaving for Europe tomorrow, so it looks like he was able to fit the trial on his schedule.
I'm gonna try be best not to be smug here, but could someone please explain to me why I still give a crap about Mr. Adu?
Because he is only 22 and has some tools and if he ever gets it together 100% could be a very good player for club and country.

Eh, why not? Freddy might fit in nicely in La Liga. Also, he could continue the tradition (ok, only one other) of yanks playing for Rayo Vallecano in La Liga.
Looks like he can go there for two weeks and be back in time for Porter's January camp. Good for him. Certainly can't hurt, though I hope he stays at Philly for a while, earns a starting spot and has a good Olympics. I'm just happy to see all these young guys going abroad to train during the offseason.
definitely not first page! Second page! Hopefully he makes the Olympic team, I think this is just a training stint, but I'm sure thise team will keep an eye on Adu in the future. I always felt La Liga would be the perfect league for Freddy. ps- dang 3rd page
I had a dream a couple of weeks ago Freddy would be in La Liga. I'm so proud of him even if it's a trial.
I agree, I still think he made a major mistake going back to the MLS. When he is healthy, he could be a serious asset offensively.
From the AP article: "This is the first step, that he comes and trains and gets to know us and the club, and we get to know him,'' Rayo sporting director Felipe Minambres told The Associated Press on Thursday. "He'll come and train and we'll see how he gets on and then we'll make a decision of whether or not he stays. I hope this leads to a full time transfer in the future.
