Been out all day, just got back to see the result. A nice way to end 2011.

    Kroos outstanding once again.
Ribery was good but got tired in the end and frustrated due to lack of help.
Robben is still very rusty but hopefully the break gives him time to practice and get back into the groove.
Gustavo needs to be paired with Schweini in the center, otherwise noone.

I think we will get much better with a rejuvenated Muller and Robben

Awesome game. Both teams battled. Bochum clearly overwhelmed but what fighting spirit and made the best of the opportunities they did have. Hats off to them.

The night however belonged to Bayern after a dominating 2nd half performance.

    - Kroos, Gomez exchange for Goal #1 was brilliant.
    - Goal against was completely Badstuber's fault for keeping players onside then not winning the ball that got through both he and Neuer.
    - Lahm's brilliant interception, then pass to Ribery in the flank, then Franck's work down into the box and lovely service into Robben for the hallmark finish by Arjen was Xmas come early for Der Eissman!!! :)
    - Gustavo for Alaba was right sub. Again Gus and Tymo are not meant be in the same space together... unfortunately.
    - Can't wait to get Schweinsteiger back.

    Merry Xmas to all!!!!

    Spot.

    On.

Gustavo's play is underwhelming since Bastian's injury.

I agree with everything except the bolded.

Goal was entirely Boateng's fault for being over on the left standing on top of Lahm. We don't need 2 LBs. He needed to be over at RB marking the man who tapped in at the back post.

Happy for the result, and happy for Robben. But I sometimes think that nobody on the team likes Robben at all. When he scored, he seemed disgruntled about something. Like, whining almost. After the game, Gomez went up to him to tell him good job, and Robben completely ignored him...Gomez just gave him a pat on the back and walked away.

So is it just me, or do the players not like him?

The rumor is that he's not the best liked player on the team. Don't know how much of that is the players and how much is the media making it into a story, but it's out there.

What I noticed, however, was that after the game Robben went over to speak with the lead official and, it looked to me, make sure the officiating team knew that Robben was not mad about the card he got for simulating. Think he was probably still mad at himself for the earlier mistake at the end of the match. He'd made his case for him selling actual contact earlier, but the officials were not biting (nor should they). Think Robben wanted to make sure to leave a good final impression with them and was preoccupied with that rather than celebrating his goal and the win.

Maybe. Either way, it's plain as day that he's not loved. He's a bit childish, always complaining. He's quality, but needs to grow the hell up. The team can't have that crap...

Came to ask the same question. This is not the first time I've noticed something like this.

After the goal most of the players whet to Ribery to celebrate, only Kroos was with Robben. He pointed at the rest of the team as if saying "what the hell are you guys doing over there I am the one who scored."

Before his injury and from his time with us Robben has been the man, now Ribery is back to his old self, it seems sharing the limelight may not be sitting well with him, Robben.

I don't know but something definitely seems to be brewing.

I disagree. Robben, when he scored, pointed to Ribery because the majority of the credit goes to Ribery for that assist. He also seemed disgruntled, not because of the reasons people mentioned here, but to me, because he didn't play well and he's his worst critic. Getting that yellow for the dive was probably part of the reason also.

    I'm not too concerned.

Exactly. I've also noticed it before too. But tonight I finally had to ask. It's weird cuz the whole team went STRAIGHT to Ribery. Didn't even look at Robben. Kroos went to him, but probably just cuz he was right next to Robben. Then it looked like Kroos was consoling him, saying "aw come on man, ain't that big of a deal, you scored a goal, be happy!" Something is brewing indeed.

People running off to Ribery must have been because he created the entire play.. anyway.. if you ask me, Robben is that kind of a person who celebrates with everyone when it comes to others scoring but basks in his own glory when he scores.. & there are many other such players.. so I don't think anything is cooking behind the scenes....

A pic to prove my point

if anyone had seen the Arsenal-Liverpool game a couple of seasons ago.. Walcott had built up a goal in the dying minutes and hence everyone had rushed to him to celebrate.. that is how it works in the game...

anyway.. I am genuinely concerned about Robben's future and commitment if he would take this to heart

people are reading waaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy to much into this...

SuperJ hit nail on the head.

Ribery was deserving of the set up, as equally was Lahm for rooting out the ball and providing the initial counter.

It was a weary game. Both teams battled. Robben was booked rightfully for the most blatant of dives, and with the ability to atone himself, Ribery served him on a silver platter.

I think Robben was simply exhausted, frustrated, and yet elated if not relieved all at the same time that it took another moment of Bayern magic in the end to keep the Pokal in our targets.

Then again, he could be just a narcissistic selfish prick... who knows... ask Robben.

And perhaps.... regardless, when things break down, you don't need your slowest donkey keeping everyone onside. Badstuber was completely guilty of this. The entire line was even with DVB and Lahm, even Tymo who was clearly covering for Boateng. Not Badstuber.

His inability to win the tackle and provide a brilliant screen for Neuer to try to save that ball wasn't his best of plays either.

Is it me or ever since piggy got injured we seem to lose that flare that 6th gear...

When we started the season we seemed unstoppable, flawless defensive record, attacking power at its highest form, then the past month or so, it's like we just don't have any ideas, we seem to be stuck on 1st gear for more then half the game..

Is piggy that much of a difference maker? Did we decline in that department just before his injury or right after?

We're is that flare from the start of the season?

It's not simply that Bastian is such a class act. But our game for much of this season revolved around to passing playmakers (Kroos & Schweinsteiger).

Ever since Bastian went down we were down to one playmaker, which means we either lack the playmaker in the centre of the pitch (Schweinsteiger), or in the final third (Kroos).

I hope we get our groove back once Schweini is back. But this should be a lesson for our FO: I hope that in the summer one of the purchases is going to be a passing cm/am, especially if Pranjic is leaving.

Ok...but it's not like Robben's goal was a poacher's tap in. Credit goes to Robben as well for burying that ball; and none was given hardly, and he seemed to take offense.

Exactly, but as much as we want to see this happen, we know it likely won't. The only scenario I can think of if 2 of our CM's are injured long term, then MAYBE they would be forced to act. I'm pretty sure they consider Alaba a lock for that position whenever someone is out. But you're absolutely right here.

For school it's a 'report card' in America and 'marks,' I believe, in England.

ETA...I think your rating of Alaba and Gomez is low relative to the others who performed well. The game completely turned around when Alaba and Gomez came on. If nothing else Alaba deserves better than Gustavo, who did nothing of note the entire half he played. Also unsure why Alaba gets lower marks than Rafinha, who was less involved and played less.
