Sure is playing the best football of his life but traces of his childishness are still there to be found, that's for sure. Maybe he'll sort that out by the time he's 30.
Well, as much as he's playing better in certain matches, he's still quite dumb and nobody should be surprised at that comment. Klopp didn't say anything wrong, he was laying out facts. The mere idea that Podolski's psyche interpreted that as an offense or personal attack sums him up. He's still too immature to be PR-savvy given how long he's been around and his own comments are so far off the mark that it begs the question; will he ever really grow up?
seriously SM? That was ofc an attack on Podolski and there is really no other way to take it and thinking differently is kinda naive. You don't make such harsh statements in public about another player, that's more than impolite. Just imagine Klopp's reaction if Heynckes would have said something similar about one of Dortmund's players. It's simply a no go and was totaly unwarranted. I can only explain it with a bad mood of Klopp after the recent results.
I think until you see the context in which the question was asked and why it was asked to Klopp in the 1st place has a lot to do with it. Bottom line, Klopp said nothing that everyone already knows. He could have said, "aside from being inconsistent", which he is, "he is an idiot" - but he didn't.
So it looks as if BvB has a little bit of the injury bug....nice to see someone get a taste of what we went through last season, hopefully we can capitalize on it as well.
But what about it was a harsh attack? He was asked whether a player like Podolski is wanted at Dortmund. Substitute any player in his comments.
not being worth the money is not a harsh comment for someone of Podolski's status? You can't be serious about that. I know and understand what Klopp is hinting at but that doesn't mean you make such statements in public about other players, there is no need for that.
Not worth the money? Or we can't afford what Koeln is asking for. Or he is too inconsistent a player in comparison to this fee? Anyone know what his exact statement was?
Podolski's status is overstated. He will be tagged with a massive price, more expensive for instance than someone like Reus who is a better player and investment. Moreover, Dortmund can't afford to spend even close to 10M on a player and to do so it would have to be one someone much much better than Podolski not only in terms of individual quality but also potential and fitting into the side for years to come. If anything it's an absurd question from the interviewer, completely unaware or ignorant on the situation of Dortmund and their personal ambitions - and the response from Klopp reflected that. It's Podolski who has an inflated ego and took it personally. I don't think Klopp cares one bit about Podolski to even consider going out of his way in an interview to attack him. Podolski on the other hand cares about what everyone says about him.
Thank you...doesn't seem like it is an attack on Poldi in anyway. He is saying we don't have that kind of money to begin with, much less on someone that performs "hot" and "cold". How is all this so hard to understand?
I mean - he could have pointed out to klopp that dortmund is "inconsistent" between europe and the league, and that he would therefore fit right in!
Watzke has spoken to Podolski's agent and apologised on behalf of the club. Watzke: "I told him we are sorry. Poldi is a class player, Jürgen Klopp shares this view. He's an emotional person. He was frustrated by the 1-1 against Kaiserslautern where we hit the post four times. He didn't mean it." http://www.bild.de/sport/fussball/h...gt-sich-bei-lukas-podolski-21525962.bild.html
Watzke apparently apologized to Poldi by calling his agent he told him that Klopp is an emotional type and that he was frustrated by the draw against Kaiserslautern http://www.bild.de/sport/fussball/h...gt-sich-bei-lukas-podolski-21525962.bild.html
