Most likely: Same team that beat Valencia with Bosingwa in for Luiz with Ivan moving to the middle. Me: I'd like to see Torres start for Drogba. Not everyone's choice I know. Chelsea buoyant from good games against Newcastle and Valencia and clean sheets (still a long way to go - but good signs). Citeh in the dumps. Champions league? Are you having a laugh? Y'know that failure hurts and haunts them. Verdict: If Chelsea keep the defensive line a little deeper and take time to rest on the ball and counter attack rather than push continuously then I think we can the result. I don't see a high scoring game. 1-0 or perhaps 2-1 to Chelsea. We must concentrate. Keep our shape. Let our full backs defend. Play the ball quick. Force Kompany to make fouls and mistakes.
As much as i like torres, i dont think it would be a good idea to change what has been a winning side. Even though he was great against valencia away (second half) and genk, i think the swansea suspension really messed with torres' momentum. Im sure he'll do fine once he gets some starts playing with mata and merieles, plus sturridge is improving a lot on the right side.
I too think that Torres has been better than Drogba overall this season and the lack of starts in previous league games has been bizarre, however Drogba deserves to start this one on the basis of his performance in the last game. Also rumours going around that Lampard may be benched again.
Starting line-up: ...............Mata...........Drogba...............Sturridge .............Meireles........Romeu...............Ramires ...Cole............Terry..............Ivanovic.............Bosingwa ................................Cech
That's a good question. This line up looks like it could do either. I would hope for possesion at least in the beginning of the match. Feel them out a bit.
Subs: 23 Ross Turnbull, 20 Paulo Ferreira, 12 John Mikel Obi, 8 Frank Lampard, 15 Florent Malouda, 21 Salomon Kalou, 9 Fernando Torres
MCFC XI v Chelsea: Hart; Zabaleta Kompany Lescott Clichy; YToure Barry; Milner Silva Balotelli; Aguero No De Jong.
Me too... Me too... looks like I'll be able to watch by the way. Still not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing.
Bosingwa starting? Against Aguero, Silva and Balotelli? Interesting. I guess AVB really didn't trust Luiz for the big game, unless I'm missing something.
