Re: Greg Garza to Sporting Lisbon I guess the talk didn't go well. This report says Garza will not be offered a contract at this time.
Re: Greg Garza to Sporting Lisbon I see that he's with the U-23s in Germany, but listed as "out of contract" with regards to his team. Anyone have an update on his club status at the moment? Is he even still looking in Europe?
Re: Greg Garza to Sporting Lisbon Word is he's trying out, but has had trouble latching on. Many on here, including bshredder, have noted that Danny Potts at West Ham DOES have a contract, made an appearance on the 1st team bench and seems to be doing well, yet wasn't called in. Can't say what it means, just that things seem to be a bit odd at LB right now. Of course, when isn't that the case for the US?
Re: Greg Garza to Sporting Lisbon Could mean that WH isn't comfortable with Potts leaving over he FIFA break. They have too many inuries and at this point it's not worth the risk to let him go. imho
Re: Greg Garza to Sporting Lisbon Now that would be a great spot for him to end up..............but of course they already have one American left back. We'd have a nice little Yanks Abroad contingent there of Corona, Castillo, and Garza.
Re: Greg Garza to Sporting Lisbon He and Castillo both play LB and LM. So I guess there is no real danger of one or another getting signed/playing.
Re: Greg Garza to Sporting Lisbon http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2011/12/02/gringo-report-tijuana-pleased-us-intl-garzas-trial sounds like he is doing good
Re: Greg Garza to Sporting Lisbon What kind of wages would he be on if he signed with Club Tijuana? I ask because I know it's a step up in quality but why wouldn't he try the MLS for a couple years?
Re: Greg Garza to Sporting Lisbon players have been going to mexico for years for the money. mexican team pay much more for average player than MLS. now you see why beasley went to puebla and no to mls
Re: Greg Garza to Sporting Lisbon Also, I think Mexico might translate a little better for Garza's style compared to MLS where his size and somewhat lack of speed could be exposed against many of the physical and faster players in MLS.
Re: Greg Garza to Sporting Lisbon The MLSsoccer.com story quote the TJ official as saying Garza wouldn't count as an international. What are his ethnic ties to Mexico?
Re: Greg Garza to Sporting Lisbon I'm not quite sure exactly what the connection is, but I remember first reading about it over a year ago in this Portuguese article that described him as "the American of Mexican descent": http://www.academia-de-talentos.com/artigo/2010/5/15/jovens-promessas-greg-garza
Re: Greg Garza to Sporting Lisbon has anyone heard of what will occur for garza? one friend i know was in the college final sitting by some of mls team and they were talking well about him. i look on twitter and sounds like he is doing ok with tijuana. any information will be very nice!
Re: Greg Garza to Sporting Lisbon It is being reported that Garza has left the U23 camp and is travelling to Mexico to officially sign with Tijuana.

Re: Greg Garza to Sporting Lisbon How about one thread for all three americans at Club TJ? I was thinking "American Xolos: Castillo, Corona, Garza at Club Tijuana"
Re: Greg Garza to Sporting Lisbon No, much better for a player to have his own thread, as it's always been.
Re: Greg Garza to Sporting Lisbon I agree. I've disliked the threads that join players at the hip. It works OK, for a while, when they're teammates and both playing consistently. Then when one transfers, or one gets injured... The mods should discourage these threads.
Re: Greg Garza to Sporting Lisbon The thing against Garza was that some felt that he was too slow for the next level. I thought he played will in the u20wc qualification matches. An american LB in a decent league is always good.
Re: Greg Garza to Sporting Lisbon Definitely a good thing, but of course Bornstein went to the same league and doesn't ever see the field. Hopefully things will go better for Garza.
