    If Basel win their next match, United go to the Europa League. :cool:

    Careful what you joke about. ;)

    In all seriousness fellas. As a whole, the pl is the weakest
    It's been in a decade. It's no surprise how they are faring in the cl across the board.

    perhaps Mancini should worry about getting out of the CL Group stages before he compares his club to Barca

    If that happened to us the media would have a field day, it would be a complete crisis and the world would be at deaths door.

    Let's see if it happens to United what the media will say. I predict the sound of crickets chirping.

    I don't care what happens, I just know Fox will shit their pants. Their coverage of the CL has been so blatantly Prem biased it is sickening.

    They have 3 channels and several affiliates. Rather than playing as many matches as possible on their channels, they play the Prem teams in different order with perhaps a Real and Barca match shown once while United, City, Arsenal and Chelsea get shown on 3 different channels on like 9 different occasions.

    WTF??? I really hate Fox...and now it is not just because of their political agenda.

    kind of like the player on one team shagging the ex-girlfriend of a teammate while being married

    compared to a player on another team repeatedly shagging his brother's wife including while his own wife was pregnant

    amazing the amount of attention that one of these stories got, and still gets, compared to the other

    i still rather have the CL on Fox than espn though. espn we would get 2 games a week and that was it, and they also always showed the united games.

    They would show ALL the games, not just the United games. Sorry, ESPN for me all the way. FOX has been absolute shit. I don't care of they want to show PREM matches more than others and/or live but what about all the other matches? They have like 7 channels - they certainly can spread the wealth.

    This is what it usually looks like;

    Tuesday;
    Fox channel 1; 3pm United vs whomever, 5pm Arsenal vs Whomever
    Fox channel 2; 3pm Arsenal vs Whomever, 5pm United vs Whomever
    Fox Deportes channel; 3pm Real or Barca vs whomever, 5 pm United or Arsenal vs Whomever
    Fox Affiliate; 3pm Arsenal vs Whomever, 5 pm United vs Whomever.

    Wednesday;
    repeat but insert; Citeh and Chelsea rather than United and Arsenal.

    This shit goes on for hours. The only way you can watch non-prem teams playing is when they are playing a prem team.

    Between ESPN2 and ESPN Deportes not to mention ESPN3, the internet streams, it was very rare that you would not find a match. Perhaps some of the obscure one were omitted, but that was unusual.

    Clearly you weren't around in 2005 then.

    Fergie has lost the plot, Ronaldo just a one-trick pony, Scholes/Giggs past it. The media shitstorm that happened then was pretty unprecedented.

    yeah, the media loved Mourinho ;)

    I think the media realize that the results this time around are more indicative of the general decline of English club football and therefore there wouldn't be as much sniping if either us or you guys go out.

    the first year they really did

    not so much in the second year when it became apparent that we may actually be a long term threat to the heiarchy of English football

    Compared to what it was 3-4 years back.

    Compare the midfield and defenses of United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool and there is a decline in quality in every one of them.

    That's the typical routine.

    Build them up, then bash them.

    The coverage of Phil Jones is going the same path. He has been consistently dismal defensively but the media coverage is ridiculously positive and over the top. He will probably get into the England xi at the euros because of that and without a doubt will make a mistake that will cost England and thus would begin the cycle where the "meeja" tries to make him a villain.

    The usual front runners may have gotten weaker, but we've seen the rise of Manchester City and Tottenham.

    City, yes. Spurs are on par with 2 years ago, but not much better.

    But the overall quality top to bottom is certainly weaker than 2004 - 2008. Bar

    This is even more prevalent in terms of midfield quality and defenders. Midfield units are a shadow of what they once were. That's why game average almost 3 goals a piece right now. The most this league has seen in a long time.
