Great article on the lad. Been impressed with him every time I've watched Benfica.

Rodriguez as well. These are the type of players Chelsea need to be after.

Okocha do you mean Rodrigo? The young Spanish lad that was on loan at Bolton?

I have heard rave reviews about him ,and he is scoring for fun in Portugal and for the Spanish U21's. Only got one goal in England , but one to keep an eye on thats for sure.

No, I was talking about James Rodriguez a left-winger/AM who plays for FC Porto.

I would love for all this to be true but I have yet to see any decent football from him. To be fair, he was being played in the wrong positions in some matches. I wonder why he was bought in the first place if all AVB wants is to play like Barca. He does not suit that type of game.

lets at least try being honest here

did you really think that Grant and Scolari deserved long term chances?

and I thought it was pretty apparent that Guus was a short term option.

so, really you are only talking about Carlo here now arent you?

Don't even count Grant. Scolari? How could you say whether or not he deserved it without being able to predict the future at the time? Coming in as a new manager, why wouldn't he have deserved a shot at making the team "his"?

When it comes to Carlo, yes, he absolutely deserved it in my eyes. But that doesn't really matter now.

For now, I'll hope that AVB and the team gets their shit together for now, so that maybe, finally, for the first time since Mourinho got to have his spending spree, we'll see someone who gets to choose the players he actually wants, and gets to build the team in his vision. I saw nothing that showed me Carlo got this sort of chance but I hope for AVB and Chelsea's sake that AVB gets it.

Drogba to LA Galaxy and Anelka to some team in Lesser Tibet (aka China) . . .and Kalou to Brentford? :p

[apparently] Chelsea and Liverpool are tracking 24-year-old Dijon midfielder Benjamin Corgnet. [a player who seems to have just arrived out of total obscurity - bit risky maybe?]

From the beeb: Chelsea and Manchester City have been linked with a move for winger Milos Krasic in January, after his agent name-checked both clubs while saying the player wants to leave Juventus.
    The new Nedved?

I think it is more of a case of Scolari losing the plot and can you honestly say that you would have given him money to spend in January when he was that far lost. Hindsight is always great and I have no shame in saying that at the time I thought Scolari was a good hire. But he ended up being a disaster and no one in the right mind would have kept him on for the long term with as far out of touch as Scolari was at the end.

Lets not forget that since he has left us he has hardly set the World alight by being an average manager in Uzbekistan and returning to club football in Brazil.

It should be pretty clear that he did not deserve a shot to make the team his. Bad hire who was correctly let go.

disagree with you here. Imo we were not going anywhere under Carlo after a great first season-

wait lets not forget that despite a glut of goals and wonderful attacking football that we still almost pissed away the League to Utd (funny how often that is ignored or not addressed isnt it)

and the performances in the second season showed it. If you dont subscribe to that then fair enough- I see no point in arguing it further.

can you show me a Manager who has not been able to build his team

for all this media bullshit about Roman and his luxury buys can anyone name one?

there is not one that is why. For all the ambigious whispering about Sheva being a Roman buy there has not been one shred of evidence to back it up. Even the master media manipulater himself (Jose) has finally conceeded that yes in fact he did have say in the Sheva transfer contrary to his silence at the time when the media was having a field day with the story.

and now the latest bullshit is that Carlo wanted Aguero- well guess what- we tried and could not sign him so Carlo got option two in Torres. What a dick Roman is trying to appease these Managers.

Oh boy, I can just imagine if Carlo got that chance. It's bad enough that the core of the team is aging and slower, we would even be more so if Carlo got his men.

Villas-Boas is also expected to return to his former club Porto in a bid to persuade the Portuguese champions to sell the Uruguay defender Alvaro Pereira. Though ostensibly a left-back, the 26-year-old is capable of playing in a more advanced role; that, in turn, would allow Juan Mata to be deployed more centrally.

Are we talking about a wing-back here? I hope that IF we sign him he is more Le Saux than Zhirkov. Does this mean we shall be forgetting the DM position - the "Makalele role" and adopting a sweeper - David Luiz in the "Rudd Gullit" role? I thought we needed a rb more . . .

Cavani - another lad from Uruguay - seems good. A new Poyet perhaps?

Cahill OR Rodwell? I'd take Cahill, Rodwell not so much.

How about some wingers? What seems to be our aversion to wingers?

also, if we are selling Drogba and Anelka - how about we keep this bloke and play him some?

I think he can move in the window

but he was not able to move to another Prem club last window because moving to two clubs in the same League in the same window is not permitted

if Anelka does go- which is being pretty widely reported- then I think it may be a little silly to loan him out

Anelka now denying the comments attritubed to him that he is leaving

at this stage and with him being able to walk away this summer, it may not be the worst stage to sell him on the alleged 1 mil being offered in Jan and give his minutes to someone else (Danny and possibly Lukaku- if its a more central role).

So it looks like Anelka is on the way out.

I hope we can get some deals done in January , if recent results are any indication , we might need a couple.

With FFP, we would want to hope our Scouts are earning their bacon. Does anyone know when FFP comes into place?

Wouldn't be devastated with either going, and hope someone of use is brought in January, maybe a coach who can organize our defense

I am surprised AVB does not know defense. I mean he did spend more than 4 years with Jose.

i wouldn't be expecting much movement come january.... (unless thats the last chance we have at spending big before ffp. AVB might have to make due with what he has and get these players playing top quality soccer like they should be.

And for goodness sake, we wouldn't really be in this mess if it wasn't for the inconsistent striker situation we have going on. You can have these mental lapses on defense everyone once in a while but if your putting away goals like we should be you can afford that later.

The media keeps running these stories because the people commenting on them don't know what they are talking about, Lukaku can go on loan to who ever he wants in january, a player can not sign and play for 3 teams in the same season but they can if it is on loan also Lukaku has played for Anderlect this season but that means he has only signed for and played for 2 teams, he is allowed to go out on loan. The only reason he wasnt allowed to in the summer is that a player cannot sign for a club and then go out on loan in the same country in the same window. Thats why it was ok for Courtois to go out on loan as he went to spain.
