Mike has always had a big heart--good to see him finally win a championship ring. Yet another ex Red Bull who has found success after leaving the organization.

Unfortunately he had a ton of injuries at the end of his time here but good to see he has gotten back to a very high level. Good for him. Great season for him even excelling as a goalkeeper.

Happy for a former player to lift the trophy. Not happy we haven't had the honor yet.

Also, he complains to the ref a lot. I hate that.

Considering that Magee shut out San Jose's offense as a goalkeeper, I guess that makes your team a bunch of **************.

I am really surprised by how much people hate Magee. It didn't end well for him here with his constant injuries but he started out well here and never seemed like a bad guy to warrant such strong words.

Yeah, he always kind of acted like a petulant rich kid, I thought. Mathis complained to the ref too, but he was Mathis, his genius (and madness) earned him that right. From Magee, it seemed like whining.

Also, while he was injured, he also never really locked down a position. Part of that is to blame on the constant coaching changes, but let's just say he was young here & has matured (his game at least) in the years since he has left.

So, I thought he was kind of a whiny douche then, and still do. I miss a ton of ex-players (Parke, etc), but guys like Brad Davis have been good to borderline excellent, and are way, way more sorely missed than Magee.

Heck, even Rimando (who we had for a heartbeat & never really played) is someone we could use on the current roster. Magee, were he still here, would be a backup at forward behind TH14 & Rodgers, would be a back up at RM to Dane, and would likely somehow be the second sub off the bench after Ballouchy (though, that's on Evil Hans, not Magee).

So, it would be nice to have him, but I miss the likes of Davis, Parke, Dunivant, Rimando & others ahead of him- effective though he has been for LA this year.

I always liked Mike as he played hard and was a good guy everytime I met him. Wore his heart on his sleeves as a Metro. Did not like the trade to get him giving up Brad but got to appreciate Mike. Good for him, no hard feelings as when he was with us he was a good soldier.

But I will never forgive him for that cheap shot punch in the face he gave a Metro/Bull opponent which gave him a red card and ended any chance for NY to win a crucial game. I don't remember the specifics so if anybody remembers this please help me recall when and and against which team it was.

Um, it was Columbus is 2006 and we didn't lose the game, Jozy came on after Magee went off and scored his famous account opener. SO his red card didn't cost us anything, we made the playoffs that year.

impressive memory indeed. Also of note was the fact that Ngwenya was sent off in the 20th minute so when Magee was sent off in the 64th minute it simply evened things up.

    Here's a match recap:
