And in the cold light of morning, after a couple of hours' sleep... This is still really freaking awesome. God, I'm going to be so useless at work today.
Just wanted to offer my congratulations to the Galaxy and its fans. First off, the fans sounded great on TV and selling all those extra seats was money. Great atmosphere. As for the team, one of the best in league history and very deserving champions. Very consistent, excellent defense, timely and balanced scoring and an amazing attitude. And the team was flat-out dominant yesterday - except, of course, the finishing but that's quibbling. No doubt who the best team in MLS is this year and no one will question that the Galaxy deserve to be champions.
Great gameplan by the Bruce and great execution by the team. Had Adam Cristman been an inanimate object you would have likely won by 3 goals... The only odd thing about MLS Cup was that either they mic'd the houston supporters or something because the camera would show section of all LA, but you could hear Houston supporters instead. Very odd or odd accoustics in the Home Depot Center or something. Here is to hoping you guys can somehow keep the team together so you can make a run at the CCL...if you lose Juninho and Beckham I think you will find things pretty hard. And I would guess you'll lose at least two more players. Was nice to see Donovan with the classy finish to win the game as well.
Congrats on your MLS Cup win last night. If that was Beckham's last MLS match, he went out in style. We'll be waiting for you on March 7.
Very nice! And yes, that's the way it should be - the best team for the season, and I mean the WHOLE season, gets the championship trophy. Thank you!
its 6:15 LA time and it is cold, for LA. But the warmth of our third star is keeping me excited and glad to be here. Thoughts about the season. Becks showed why he was an important player for Real Madrid and ManU. His drive and fire far outway his tremendous talent. Landon, Oh captain my captain there is no player in our current roster who bleeds LA colors like you do. A living legend who is part of the Galaxy Trinity. Jones, Cienfuegos, Donovan. Our unsung hero. AJ - You beautiful bastard you didn't get the accolades of Omar but damn if you were not the as important. Juninho. - Even if you do go back to Sao Paolo, You are LA til you die. Sounders - Damn you for being so good and opening the eyes of other teams who will come looking for a stellar goalie, National Team call up?? Lastly - The fans, Yeah Seattle, Portland et al. get all the love but we have been here from the beginning and relevant as a team for the leagues entire existence. I believe we have the greatest fans in the league. 16 years strong and at the top or near the top of attendance. Love this club, LA til I die.
My ears are still ringing like I was at a Rage concert last night, not a Galaxy game. Same here, Houston never really looked that dangerous, but every time they got the ball I was chewing my scarf like Sigi. The only “sour” note was Beckham’s acknowledging the crowd came across as a goodbye. In retrospect it’s such a shame he wasn’t ready for MLS and MLS wasn’t ready for him. Can you imagine getting a full 5 years from him? I also go a similar vibe from Juninho. Bummer.
Well dashiel, I hope your vibe is wrong on both of them. I want Juni to stay for obvious reason. And I think he hates to leave too. As for Becks...though I literally followed him to MLS, I can't imagine he'll get the same excitement, energy, vibe, even for merely one year, as he gets in LA now. Not to mention the playing time. Do you think he will say goodbye to this club and its fans without actually saying it? I mean...he was force to go out of Man United without saying goodbye and he redeemed it back by saying goodbye to them during the World IX vs. Man United in 2006. Then, he (literally) said his goodbye to RM fans and clubs after that final game. So...I don't think it'll be different this time with LA. When he really wanna say goodbye, I think we'll know. Oh yes, plus I think he did say in the post-game press conf. that he is looking forward to the future here. So yeah...I've got a good vibe that he'll stay.
Just want to say congrats on the well-deserved victory. You've been the best club in MLS two years running, and I always like it when the Shield winners (whom I consider the true champs) also win our little tournament at the end. Hope Beckham and Juninho do both stay, but if it is indeed a swan song, it was a good one for both. For all the credit Toronto and the teams from the Pacific get, lets not forget it really was Beckham's arrival that started to swing things upward. Also a nice little swan song for Berhalter, and probably Hejduk, as well. Two class vets who have had great club and country careers. As for LD, just for the sake of the Nats, I'd hope he does go to Europe for a couple years, then comes back after the 2014 WC. Anyway, congrats and well deserved. And, BTW, if you do lose some players, reload and win the CCL.
Congratulations to the Galaxy players. This has been a long crazy season and I'm just glad I could share it with everyone here. I figure I'll enjoy the win for about a week or so and then start complaining about next year.
When are the 3 star jerseys coming out????? I'm beer farting all over the office, in my still rain soaked jersey because its casual week....
Actually, unfortunately for me, I'm not looking forward to that silver ball. It doesn't show up well on TV. I had the hardest time seeing it last night - in fact, I couldn't even tell the ball went in goal until the replays.
They need to announce the new jersey sponsorship and kick these out pronto. Strike while the iron is hot.
It doesn’t come across in the video, but the entire crowd singing “We are the Champions”, drowning out the tannoy, at least where I was sitting – it was transcendental.
What the hell did ESPN do anyway, that makes so many people the atmosphere was dead. It was electric.
Just saw the post-game presser, loved Beckham looking directly at Wahl and saying “It’s nice to prove doubters wrong” and Bruce saying “Anyone in particular” I know, apart from this weird 5 minute lull in the 60th minute or so where the stadium was quiet I couldn’t hear a damn thing the PA, the whistle on the pitch, nothing, it was just my fellow fans ruining their voices. Truly special night and one I don’t think we’ll see again for a long time, maybe ever.
