The silly season approaches. My antanae are already itching for some movement. I think this will be an active period. My first question is who do we have on loan and what are the terms? Is Jackson at the end of his loan? I can see Galindo and Guarda moving to greener pastures. Then of course there's the looming loss of Shea and John. Do we finally see FCD youth products feature next season?
Still suffering the playoff bomb out hangover personally. I might be able to think a little more clearly after MLS cup.

Ditching Barry Gorman was definitely one of the better subtractions we could make. I'm glad that experiment was ended early because I just don't think Gorman had the professional soccer knowledge for the task. My darkhorse replacement nomination at TD would be Dario Sala. Imagine Mauro Rosales instead of Ricardo Villar. Now to the players: Josh Lambo, Edson Edwards, and Maykel Galindo are easy cuts. I think either Ricardo Villar or Daniel Cruz must be cut. I'd prefer to see Villar go because I think Cruz has much more upside. His career in Belgium seems really impressive. I think he needs time and support to settle here and he could be a great foil to Fereirra. Maicon Santos can stay or go, but we obviously need a #1 striker that is far superior to him in either case. That's request numero uno. Hell, sign two strikers. I'm sure we can do better than Jack Stewart and Jeremy Hall so maybe draft in a defender or two. Americans seem to be able to get the job done just fine in MLS these days. Bobby Warshaw better start showing something or he's a bust. The biggest swing factor next season is the kids. What can Luna do next year? Castillo? Shea? Not to mention the other kids like Levya, Ulloa, Moises, Top and Sanchez. It's got to be something or we're just gonna run the tank dry again next season. Fererria seems unlikely to be DF10MGEE!!1 and will be less superhuman and more 32 year-old recovering from a serious injury. Don't get me wrong, I'm optimistic, this is undoubtedly a great team.
So on Schellas' SMU teams, do you (or does anyone else) know if he tended to play seniors at the expense of talented underclassmen? It's about the only way I can reconcile an NCAA coach being so iffy on young pros, and tangentially, it might contribute to why he never quite got over the hump. I'm really just spitballing, though. Feel free to tell me the exact opposite.
Well I'm not really qualified to talk about that. I saw 1 maybe 2 games of Schellas Hyndman coached SMU teams and they were against FC Dallas/Burn. Personally, I hate the argument that Schellas Hyndman never got over the hump. His teams were good every single year and to discredit a coach's talents because he was never able to have a team that won 6 games in a row is kind of silly to me. Just my opinion. Regarding Schellas not playing kids, he has his favorites and they play. That's about all there really is to it. IMO, Ruben Luna was the only one that realistically should've played more though. You have to remember these are still kids. 2013 is a realistic target for Ulloa,Leyva, Hernandez to be seriously contending for a starting spot. They will break in more next year though. Reserve league helps so much.
You could also argue that he played Guarda when he wasn't ready, gave up too much for him at the time, and it might have been SH's first season(?). Plus resigned him when he graduated from the GA.
Kyle Davies is available, Id like to see him picked up. Davies and Stewart would be reliable backups to Ugo and whoever we get (an ITL and/or DP?) to try and fill John's shoes
Are they kids? Isn't Leyva 20 or so? Even so, if you're good enough you're old enough is what I say. Its a shame Hyndman wouldn't give them a chance. What could have been if he played more kids during that stretch run of CCL and league play?
Luna, Leyva, Hernandez, etc. are all approaching 20. Not kids.... We should think of them as we would 20 year old draft picks.
"Major League Soccer Soccer dot com" has it as well. Surprised that TFC traded for him after they torched him constantly in that decisive CCL game.
Say what you will about Hall, but a draft pick is worth basically nothing. Trading players for basically nothing just doesn't seem like a great idea.
