If they package the friendly as they did this year, it appears there is a chance to pull 40k in 2012. Those folks in that erector section better bring the noise.
It will be interesting to see what price they make the Hawks Nest.. Are tjey going to make it all inclusive, GA, or somewhere in between..
And whether they are to be game day or largely season tickets. Though I'm pretty sure we already know the answer.
Well, the email does say to call and reserve tickets, so it is safe to say that sucker is going to be mostly season tickets.
It would be so awesome to pack a supporters group up there. Better view and probably much louder. Too bad a ton of us are already price locked for the south end.
This is awesome news! Seattle isn't my first team but I do go to the games and support the Sounders whenever LA isn't involved. I think it would be great to put the away fans in the Hawks Nest, or at least when it can be almost sold out (not sure how many people it holds). It would really create a great atmosphere since Sounders will have an area to direct their chants at that is actually central, it would give a great experience to away fans not being wedged on the side as well. Of course I'm not sure of the history of that area so perhaps it's too important to give away to away? Educate me if im wrong please
Because of the way it is built, it would give the away fans too much of an advantage when making noise. I've never been up there but it also seems like a great place to launch your leftover cheese fries if you are disappointed by the match results. Really bad idea to put away fans up there.
Lol, so it's where the loudest noise comes from? That might be better for away fans though since they are battling 30K+ Sounders fans. I guess from just an advantage to your team its not the best but for TV, etc its amazing to hear the away fans and then the home fans going back and forth. You all can still overpower them. I dunno, just my 2 cents. It's only realistic for Portland and Vancouver too, in order to fill it. Are they killing the seats on the upper bowl or keeping them? Seems pretty lonely up there when I look up
Eh. I don't want to give the away fans an advantage. It's metal construction and supposedly hollow to allow the sound to reverberate off the metal bleachers. If there is going to be a SG there, I'd much rather NEF or they do an ECS North there.
I thought if you moved locations you kept your inaugural season status. Granted, new section, so the pricing might not have the 1st season pricing.. Hmm... Not up on the Sounders FC website yet.. Probably doing a "pre sale" to STH first. Hey, Fuzzy, you working your magic to get the ECS that haven't been able to get into the southend up there?
I hope they banish the band to the 3rd level.... or dis"band" them altogether. Having them blast in our ears for the past season from up above was excruciating. Put them where Blue Thunder plays during Seahawk games and DON'T MIC THEM! If they open it up to a "supporters group", I hope they let everyone know going in. Cheap seats are hard to find and many new ticket holders will be looking for the least expensive seat. We, the northend, don't need a war going on behind us over flags and standing etc.
We want ECS in The Brougham End. It would be cool if the FO could poll STH's in the South End to see if they are enjoying their game day experience. =As we all know, there are some people that are not happy about the flags being up during the run of play that have tickets in the South End. This would be a good chance to relocate them to good seats for the same price. They could then move more ECS into the South End. This would be a win-win for everyone. As the Hawks Nest will be reserved seating, I would be surprised if they allowed the same "supporter rules" there that are allowed in The Brougham End such as flags larger than 3x5, 2pole banners, etc... I could be wrong about that though.
I don't know, I'm a STH in the upperbowl, I like the tactical view, and its more crowded than you would think.
*shrug* Seems kind of silly to pass on the opportunity to put a supporters group up there when the thing was designed for noise.
Maybe we should rename it for Sounder's purposes. Crow's Nest, maybe. Like on a ship. So how much capacity is that? So far they have done a good job of measuring demand, so here's hoping for continued sellouts.
how do you just "put a supporters group up there"? guarantee you its more easily said than done. we will focus on the southend where participation has been growing since day one. there are relationships built in the south end that cant just be uprooted and placed somewhere else. with that said, there will surely be some ECS in the hawsknest that made that decision on their own and no worries with that. At least that is my assumption.
I love that idea I dunno I still think it's great for away supporters from teams that can fill it, which means it will probably have to be GA for any other game. With this retarded unbalanced schedule coming up you will have more than 2 games against Cascadia at home now
I think the band is great, they add a focus for the non-supporter ECS crowd on prematch stuff and they are very good ambassadors for the team in the community. I do agree that the in-game use of them has been a learning experence for the FO. I really wish we had another name for the Hawk's Nest, but I think we are stuck with it
Before and after games.... fine, but having them mic'd and the sound coming out of the speakers being a second or two behind the actual "playing" is just horrible. Brass bands are "loud" anyway. Why mic them? All that being said, I hate Blue Thunder at Hawk games too! So it's bands in general, not just Drew's folly.
No ********ing way it will be used for away support. Just stop. Besides, until Vancouver and Portland are willing to give Sounders 2k+ in their stadium for away support it won't happen. Plus, with the upcoming unbalanced schedule rivalry games are going to be watered down some and you will see less travel for each game than you normally would with just one home and one away against rivals. Although maybe the FOs would like that as they have been trying to limit away travel.
Well its a damn good reason to force them to let more Seattle fans to go, which I think is beneficial for both sides. I wouldnt do it unless they did it too. Yes, that is a retarded thing about this stupid unbalanced schedule, im really hating the idea. FOs are idiots, they are afraid of hooliganism, but these rivalries can only help MLS
