I understand they are your rival and they are the team in this league I hate the most too. However, regardless of the rivalry they are one of the charter members of this league and one of the most successful as well. Having them move is bad for the league and something no fan should root for.
I agree. Rivalries are fun. If they moved, who would you root so passionately against, and love to see your team beat?
Getting the thread back on topic... Kansas City should give every other moribund franchise hope. Simply incredible what that ownership group has done. They have literally gone from league laughing-stock to model franchise. If it can happen in KC, it can happen anywhere. I just hope they come out of the gates flying next year and keep the momentum.
His post was stupid, but I don't quite understand your point about geography. Are there not 6 MLS teams within 50 miles of the Pacific Ocean? Chivas, LA, San Jose, Portland, Seattle, Vancouver
I would still root for my team, and against every team my team is playing. If DC moves to Baltimore they still exist, I can still root against them, and it cuts my drive to the away game by an hour.
I don't necessarily mean if they moved an hour away. The DC United situtation is a different one because they're moving relatively close to each other, IF that happens. I hate San Jose, but I know I was disappointed when they relocated to Houston because the San Jose-LA matches were great fun and it was good to have a team to loathe so much. I was glad when they came back so we could start whooping on them again. I know you'd still root for your team against every other team, but those rivalry matches make it that much more fun. I don't consider Chivas USA a rival, so they can go wherever the eff they want.
Do any LA fans consider Chivas a rival? I was under the impression it was nothing but a made up rivalry that is completely one sided (since the Goats have no one else to hate).
The "Super Classico" is definitely a made up rivalry. I can't speak for all the LA fans, but I know a lot that don't consider Chivas USA a rival or a real threat during the season. Just because they rent out a locker room and use our field occassionaly doesn't make them a rival.
http://traveltips.usatoday.com/portland-oregon-visitors-attractions-37523.html (as the bird flies) Last time I checked, the Puget Sound and Strait of Gerogia are part of the Pacific Ocean http://www.britannica.com/EBchecked/topic/230264/Strait-of-Georgia
Great, great ending. Pure irony, perfect timing. MOVE D.C.! MOVE NEW ENGLAND! MOVE CHIVAS! Than, hopefully, we get them all new stadia which would allow us to say: remember when we thought they were lost causes?
I might agree that he was wrong on Portland (barely) but you're really splitting hairs if you're going to claim that the Puget Sound/Strait of Georgia isn't the Pacific Ocean.
As KC, Chivas needs a stadium and a rebranding. I do not think they need to change everything, but at least: (a) call themselves the Los Angeles Chivas; and (b) change the logo. The team can have a link to Guadalajara -like a little brother, it can resemble the older one a bit-, but this copying is not working and probably it never will. kazakal28 just published this in other thread: That pretty much settles it for me...
They fact that they're called the Strait of Georgia and Puget Sound kinda precludes them from being the Pacific Ocean don't ya think? I mean if they are the Pacific Ocean then by extension wouldn't the Pacific Ocean also be within 50 miles of all the east coast teams as well?
Ummm... because that's where the most people are in the west? Thats where the money is? That is the areas where guys with lots of money said they wanted to put clubs? Stop me if this is getting too technical for you. You are just trolling, right?
How do you come to that conclusion? And using your logic, the Bering Sea and Strait isn't part of the Pacific Ocean.
If the Gulf of Mexico is considered part of the Atlantic Ocean (it is), then I think the Puget Sound is part of the Pacific Ocean. They're both subsidiaries, part of a larger body. I really don't follow your logic here.
So you're telling me if I upgrade to BigSoccer Premium I can get BigGeography too? Thanks for the free preview. I'm in.
