What coaching vacancies do you think will open up now that the regular seasons are now over ?

After a two-win season, I don't think Harvard will keep the guy who replaced Jamie Clark. Before he took the helm, that program was a consistent winner.

Other places where a change would clearly be justified include Stanford, Virginia Tech, Pitt, and Seton Hall. Most of these situations have been discussed here already.

...no doubt after a grad student disclosed to the AD that Collins had been masquerading as a coach, and molesting opponents, for nearly 20 years.

Kentucky should be a pretty coveted job. They play in a good conference and they have the resources of being Kentucky. That's not a poor athletic department.

It's also not that far from Mike Freitag's old stomping grounds. Just sayin'...

    Is that conference still intact?

A few years ago, UK's women hired a coach away from Charlotte. I wonder how he gets along with Jeremy Gunn.

Conference USA? As far as I know.

Granted, it supplements its soccer with non CUSA programs like Kentucky and South Carolina, but it's a good soccer conference and will likely send about 4 teams to the NCAA Tournament this year and will usually have several MLS-caliber players on its rosters.

Gunn should be coaching in the ACC.

Yeah, if Tech cans Brizendine this winter, I figure Gunn's the front-runner for the Tech job.

Think central florida and smu may be leaving for another conference? 4 teams to the NCAA? In the past it has been maybe 2 at most.

It had four bids last year, including two seeds in the top ten. As you say, conference shifts may have an impact. Adding West Virginia would help.

Amazing how quiet this thread is considering all the dinosaurs roaming the earth. There are many more gentlemen on BS than first meets the eye.

Gunn is a brilliant coach and deserves a decent look as a candidate for an ACC job.

Eder, why the constant hate against all things English?

Because if you been around the game as long as I have...you recognize that 98% of them don't care about helping the game grow in this country. All they care about is themselves which is why they play soccer like non-league beer teams in the UK. They fooled so many americans into the belief that soccer is about "aggression", "anger", and getting "STUCK IN LADs". They don't care about technique out side of slide tackling.

This is the kind of UK coach we have in this country (98%...as there are exceptions). The English coach nowadays in England are the coaches we need, guys who have learned from the likes of watchin Arsenal, Chelsea, Man U, and now Man City play...the David Platts of the league...WE do not have these coaches here...we have coaches who play an antiquated style of thump the ball to the BIG man up top and lets see what happens.

It's nothing personal my friends...this is soccer!

I have to agree. There are too many older coaches that played "antiquated" soccer back in their college days, lets say circa 1970s, and grow up with those principals in mind, translating them to their coaching styles. Then they take all these licensing classes, which IMO really amount to nothing useful, and run rampant with a "get big or go home" attitude. There are too many dinosaurs that are not necessarily killing the game, but making progress as slow as it can possibly get.

Aside from that, Gunn should get a fair shot at a decent job. He's done well dating back to his Ft. Lewis days. And that's all most AD's want to see. You could sit there and try to explain a masterpiece strategy for helping the team win, and not only will the AD not understand anything you are saying (because they are usually a former athlete of some other sport and could really care less about soccer) but they will not hire you as well. Which of course puts the younger guys at a disadvantage.

Eder, Gunn does emulate a lot of Arsenal's stuff. Idk if you can say he is garbage. I've seen the team play, and it's a heck of a lot better than numerous other programs.
