We only play one striker - how many do we need? We currently have Drogba, Anelka, Lukaku, Torres, Sturridge and Kalou (since he has repeatedly shown he's crap on the wing). Our real problem is a lack of forwards, not strikers.

I was thinking more of him coming across the keeper, getting to the ball earlier and heading it but, fair enough. TBH it was a bit like Frank's one against Genk where he has the keeper closing him down. I remember getting clattered a few times back in the day and it is rather off-putting.

I don't think it was that easy of a chance. It was a looped rather than driven cross, so he had to wait for it to come down and volley it while the keeper was rushing at him. If that wasn't Torres, no one would even mention that as a terrible miss.

Well on MOTD, they didn't talk about Torres miss, but the misses of B'burn. They felt they were a bit unlucky to not score. Nothing said about Cech's heroics, which was the reason why they didn't score. It seemed like our defense was trying to help them score

You are joking right??? Obviously you don't watch Chelsea TV:

Both Torres and Danny should have put a couple past Robinson. We failed to dominate and score more than 1 against Blackburn.

Im not starting to hate AVB but our squad are starting to resemble our period after we lost to the scum and sunlun last season.

Also i agree with nice, too many strikers not enough forwards, we need a winger or 2, hoping for winter transfers.

I watched the game again and realised why Daniel was given something of an easy time by the co-commentator... it was his uncle Dean :D

To the bold - A bad miss is a bad miss, and the fact that its Torres just makes it slightly more frustrating to watch. Could've been Drogs, Nico (oh, wish he had missed that, we'd probably see a few pages worth of posts talking about how bad he is), Studge, whoever.

It was a bad miss. Torres is, supposedly, a world class striker. That was an easy put away.

It was'nt in the same class as the Man U. miss - I would reckon that a striker would expect to score that 6 times out of 10 - even if he had got it on target there was still a good chance that it would have hit the keeper.

I don't think that was that horrible. I think the goalie made himself big and forced the shot. The only ways he scores 1.) hit it down, 2.) take another touch. Anything else comes off the goalie.

The media (and unfortunately some our own) would blame Torres for a bad miss even if he was shot in the head just as he was about to shoot the ball. They would use a more colourful adjective though. "Woeful, drastic, feeble, banjoistic, etc"

If Torres hits that shot into the onrushing keeper no one would be talking, he puts in over the keeper & the bar, all of a sudden it's miss of the season.

no we've seen the miss of the season already. We just don't like him trying to up that one. Its an unfortunate touch and it happens, just so happens more often with him then others.....
