Your assurances leave me cold Chess Panther. Bullet trajectories and the like are loads on the CPU, not the GPU and are not that intensive. The enormous map sizes are no great feat either as they are loaded on the fly by the game engine, which is easier to do with the lower graphical settings. Arma II's "massive world" is nice but it's nothing special. The world clocks in around 86 miles squared, which is nice but not impressive. For comparison, Burnout Paradise is 200 miles squared. Just Cause 2 is 400 miles squared. Test Drive Unlimited has 618 miles squared. Hell, even a shitty game like Fuel managed over 5000 square miles! Are you gonna tell me all these games are more intensive than BF3?
I suggest you actually roam around in forums and check what specs are the players of Arma II using to reach high settings. Unless, ofc, you want to call hundreds liars. The simple fact that you're comparing games of that nature to a FPS/Third-Person/Sandbox game like Arma II pretty much states how much you don't know about. The comparisons you're making are extremely silly as you're individualizing one aspect and then another instead of adressing all Arma feats at once. Very few are the games who are a direct competition so you should of looked into those. So be honest, how much of Arma II do you know about? Race games? A third person shooter?..lol. Let's do this, pm me, I might try to get you ARMA II:CO so that you can experience PvP 50 vs 50 of Steam. After, take your own conclusions of how well does your PC handle it in high settings and then what is the average PC nowadays for a gamer. I'm serious btw.
Typical start for a Battlefield game on the 360, when the EA servers aren't being overrun the MP is awesome.
Tried playing the campaign on Hard last night, damn it is hard. I was dying way too much and too quickly so I restarted the campaign on normal. One section I didn't die once where as on Hard I literally died over 10 times.
So I got a 25% off promo code email from EA/Origin for my birthday, which doesn't work on pre-orders. Fair enough. I waited until last night to give it a shot, only to find out the code included in the email consisted of 2 letters - "NA". Apparently that's not the multi-letter/digit standard these codes go by. I emailed an inquiry to EA support, but will probably just end up paying full-price for it anyway, especially considering the amount of hours I'll dump in it'll be worth every penny.
Amazon screwed up my pre-order release day guarantee. The game won't show up until tomorrow. But at least they gave me a $50 credit, so I essentially got the game for free. Or will when it gets here tomorrow.
form the beta i couold see that the game was just ok. and with the full release its confirmed to be just that. the single player campaign sucks balls and multiplayer gets old quick. i hope COD is good, though im not getting my hopes up since COD has sucked since MW
In BC2 I pretty much only played Rush but in BF3 I've played mainly Conquest, the rush maps are pretty terrible.
Finished the campaign Friday night, was pretty good but a touch disappointed with the ending. The game looks gorgeous though.
I have BF3 for the PS3...anyine else play on line? Every time I log back on - I lose my add ons like the scope and and barrel handle or heavy barrel. I have my my rank and points but all my "unlocks" disappear. Anyone else have this issue. It is very frustrating working toward something only to have to start from scratch the next time you play.
After traditionally being a Modern Warfare fan, I decided to get this to mix it up. It was pretty glitchy, the game play is a bit slow and I'm thinking about exchanging it for MW3. The single player was pretty familiar, nothing new. It was fun to get on those gun emplacements though. Did anyone else convert to this game?
I like 'em both so Its not about one or the other for me. Still pissed I keep losing my "unlocks" when I am playing online.
i think it's an awful game, the aiming sucks, the weapons suck, people jump round shooting shotguns etc plus the vehicles dominate and i can barely connect would not advise this game for anyone, i play on ps3 mw3 shits on it from a vast height and that is flawed lol
Well your first mistake was playing it on the PS3 but apart from that it's a totally different game to MW3. It's like comparing a Total War game to Command and Conquer. You actually need to aim down sights and unless you're right up in someone's grill you need to burst fire or you're more likely to kill a passing bird than the guy you're shooting at. Bullets have travel time unlike MW so when you pull the trigger it doesn't instantly hit, it takes a fraction of a second to travel and in that time he could have moved. Bunnyhopping is pretty much impossible and unless you play on a couple of maps the shotguns are pretty much useless.
i'm not enjoying it, taking minutes to travel to a flag to be shot by someone lying down somewhere....tedious to me i enjoyed the last one but am not enjoying bf3 at all, i bet it's much easier and better on pc mw3 is vastly superior on the console imo
MW3 compares to BF3 much the same as checkers compares to chess. Sorry but the fast twitch nerves festival that is MW3 just annoys me with its lack of strategic depth. Playing BF3 with a smart team against another smart team is one of the best experiences I've had on the xbox. Maybe you are just playing with poor players. I find that some of the worst players on BF3 are the ones with plenty of time on COD titles and little on BF games. Their failure to adapt to the different requirements and insistence on playing the same way as MW makes them horrible teammates. They really suck at getting the most out of vehicles. I look forward to them quitting BF3 which will improve the player pool. The same thing happened on BFBC2. In a few months they'll be gone and the general level of play in BF3 will get much better even when I can't get on team with my friends.
I have MW3 and BF3 for XBOX 360 and I actually do like BF3 a bit better. The thing is that for each game, there's a learning curve. I disliked BF3 at first for the same reasons as thebigman but now after putting a couple hours into it, I think it has a great flow. You just have to know the maps and get used to the physics of the game. I still can't fly or snipe for shit though.
And there's the rub. I think when it comes to more "specialized" tasks within the game, it shouldn't be so easy that everyone can do it from the get go.
Got used to it now. Auto aim helps as I tried free aim and I don't like the jitteryness of it. It's fun in a squad with a mate
You mean autoplay for the campaign, right? I don't think there is an auto aim for the online play - unless you buy on of the aim-bot cheat things. I can't snipe for shit either. I just got ptomoted to 2nd LT and things are a bit easier once you find a weapon you are comfotable with - I simply haven't gone back to sniping. I shoot and shooot and nothing; zero kills. I use the UMP with Support. Love the claymores.
