Oh good lord. Let 5 in against a mediocre Arsenal team. Absolutely horrid display...

Hope the VfB match is better than this one...

    Cech, THEY'RE SHOOTING THROUGH YOU.

Disgraceful defending. Below average attacking. Why'd I even wake up this morning?

Oh, Malouda, GTFO. Seriously. At least Sturridge's failures didn't literally cost us the game, you ********ing twat.

Appalling stuff. Mata and Lamps really the only ones to come out of this with any credit, the backline was a shambles, Sturridge and Torres were both very poor and the less said about Malouda's cameo the better.

    Embarrassing, really.

    Shocking. Embarrassing. Disgraceful.

This entire team needs to sort themselves out. We'll be 9 points back when City roll over Wolves.

Take that high line and stick it where it belongs, AVB. We aren't f'ing Barcelona and this isn't the f'ing Portuguese league.

Imagine how much criticism we level at La Liga for mediocre defending. This season it's safe to say that the Prem is not much better, if at all.

Only three teams have conceded more goals than us in the league this season.

I thought Cech saved us a couple times and he was really let down by the defense, but I think he he should have done better on three of the goals. Not that the shots were bad, in fact, they were all excellent. I think the Santos goal goes through his legs or under his foot and he is beaten twice on his near post. The van Persie goal was just ridiculous. He's one of the top players in the world right now, though.

Defense: shit. Lampard and Ramires were impatient I think. I thought Mikel was one of the two players that had an okay game. Mata was good. Sturridge and Lukaku are awkward with the ball. Sturridge has no right foot and Lukaku plays like I do. He literally takes the ball and dribbles it into the defenders. He's 18 so I guess he's still adjusting. Torres had no support, the balls coming from midfield were too long or off the mark. Quiet game for him.

It definitely isn't in the dressing room, the group seems united, rather, it's on the pitch. Choppy play.

Interesting game and Arsenal deserved the victory.

Looks like we're back to that 'bad moment' again. DOnt know what to say about that defence but as far as all our 3 strikers are concerned i think a lack of games has caused a problem with their sharpness. Torres missed a load of games and only then had a good 45 mins against genk. Was hoping he'd get a runout against everton just for some match practice. And drogba was also sloppy and lacking games due to his injury and now suspension.

With some better final balls , we could have had a couple more. Especially that Sturridge chance in the first half where he shanks it abit.

Torres was not there today , I daresay a lack of match fitness.

Gotta say though , Arsenal showed some great character , something I havent seen in a while. Both teams really need to work defensively , we have been leaking goals something chronic.

O the days of Mourinho and that defence of ours. Solid as a rock.

Each 'big' team has had a walloping this season with Liverpool outplayed at Spurs , Utd with City and Arsenal with Utd. So hopefully this is just our turn.

I think that leaves city as the only team in the top six who haven't been at the wrong end of a walloping.

I have to say that some of the defending I have seen in this young premier league season is baffling. It's not just a couple of teams either. What is up with that?

Even though he is 33 now, I do feel like Chelsea could have still used Carvalho, especially in games like this.

We could have had another 4 or 5. The number of times we played the wrong ball was beyond belief.

TBH playing THAT high a line against fellas like RVP, Gervinho and Walcott was ALWAYS asking for trouble. AVB needs to adjust his ideas I think.

Having said that we didn't have the rub of the green on a few occasions. As the commentators pointed out, their keeper should have had a straight red for his assault, (I won't call it a tackle), on Ash.

Still, forget it and move on I say.

That was painful to say the least, but not unexpected. One thing I can say for sure is that neither team on the pitch today will contending for any trophies this season. Cech should have done better, but with that defense in front of him, there isn't much he could have done.

One positive to take away from this match is that the strategy AVB is trying to implement is clear, the only problem is that the personnel is letting him down, which is not surprising considering how out of sorts the core of this team was last season. This is still very much a team in transition, and to say otherwise would be a lie. I would love to see Chelsea top of the table every season, but it's too much to ask right now. The key things I want to see from this season are a top 3 finish, the formation of a playing strategy, a set starting line up, and those who should be shown the door gone. Luckily this current team should be good enough to stay top 3, and AVB is making clear progress on the other points. We're just going to have to weather the storm.

Despite this result, I'm still encouraged compared to last season at about this time.

AVB looks kind of silly trying to put a round peg in a square hole. He needs to manage the team he has not the team he wishes he had.
Really? Weren't Chelsea still on top of the table miles ahead of everyone this time last year? The week of Armistice Day was the week Wilkins was fired and the slide began for real. Personally, I'm not encouraged at all. Not one ********ing bit.

i'm too pissed off to say much. I just hope everyone is not already throwing avb under the bus.

But I wanted to say one thing. I have defended him many of times on here, but today was where i draw the line and admit i was wrong.

    Bosingwa needs to go.

Hope to see we get a new rb in jan, along with a winger & maybe even a goal scorer.

Even when the team was flying high last season, the team was a collection of individuals, admittedly all hitting the mark at just about the same time. But when the slide happen, we were *****ed because our collection of individuals couldn't work as a team. At least now all of the boys are working as a unit, a craptastic unit today though. Perhaps I overstated it, but the encouraging part comes from the fact that certain players can no longer hide, and are now being exposed. This just means they can be shown the door all the sooner.
