i've never heard such varying opinions about a shoe. Am I still considering buying them? Yes. Could it be a mistake? Certainly. I will contemplate more.

one_united, I own a pair of Predator Mania TRX FG (lunar) and I can tell you that it's great. Get it instead of the vapors, I would say because it would be more solid and cheaper. WAYYYY cheaper, actually.

They are great for me, and my feet are not extremely narrow either (but they are narrow). I don't know if its the slight weight difference or the design of the shoe but acceleration is top notch. If the guy you're facing is wearing a heavier shoe you can catch right up to him :D also I play wing forward so I don't shoot alot, but when I do its pretty good. I *think* the Preds are better for constant shooters because of the insanely flat design, you can get under the ball so much easier. But once you get used to the Vapors its no problem. And since you're a defender, speed > shooting.

I think its just down the personal choice at the end of the day.

I have been wearing vapours now for about 2 seasons. I didnt like them at first and really had to get used to wearing them as the felt 'funny' but now i have got used to wearing them they are the most comfy boots ever.

Mine havent 'fallen apart' my older pair have split slightly where the sole is attached to the nike skin. But its tiny. And i have had them for a while now.

I dont think i have ever got blisters from them. I think if you get blisters from boots you are wearing the wrong size. Or sometimes you have to get blisters to harden up your feet especially in the summer months.

Going back to the original thread. I live in the UK too. And i dont think vapors are the best boots for when the ground is rock hard. The plastic blades tend to be a bit slippy on the hard surface. The best boots i have ever had for the summer are Adidas Copa Mundial. They are comfy, they are light, they long lasting and the studs are rubber so you dont slip. But these were the boots that REALLY gave me blisters! I am talking about blisters the size of 50ps on the ball of my foot. I had to go to the doctors to get them sorted!!

But as i said before its personal choice. But from experience. I cant fault vapors. Just when the ground is really hard i find that you slip in them which isnt very good for a central defender!! :)

well i have been leaning more into the preds only becuase i dont have the money to buy the vapors thats the main reason i guess, and i heard that the fakes vapors aren't that good....or am i wrong? For the predators mania trx, are they light, becuase i heard that they were the lightest preds ever......

The mania is light but probably not as light as Pulse. I dont know cause the weight is diffferent for different size. For me, I dont care what the weight of my boot is cause if it's heavy, train your legs to carry more weight :)

Here's an appetizer for Beckham's fanboi: Beck used the Lunia Mania a lot ;)

Well... not ALL/EVERYONE has a pair of vapors and preds. It depends on personal taste. I've read a thread somewhere that some dude with a $20 boot can whoop another fella with $150 boot. Boot doesnt really matter. If you have the money, you should really consider forking it out for the sake of getting something that you feel good with and trust me, it's a great investment.

The reason why you are paying more money for a boot is because it has special features that you will only realize in certain game situations. The studs are placed in certain ways to maximize grip. The sole makes your foot more comfortable, in return lessening fatigue in your foot and legs. They also last longer. If you are a player who plays once in awhile, you don't need vapors. But if you play in a league and play often, invest in an expensive pair of boots. Of course if you are just starting out, go for a cheaper pair, like Zoom's or F30s. Boots don't make you a great player.

There is no such thing as fake vapors. You mean vapor like shoes from other brands or were you talking about Nike Talarias?

Talerias, and they are known as "fake vapors" or "cheap vapors". They are the same weight, yet a $100 less, why?

i refuse to believe that four or five ounces and signigantly going to affect speed and accelleration other than physchologically.... even if a person weighs only 130 lbs that amount of weight is a 1/500 of body weight. are the pros who wear the "heavy" shoes sacrificing speed and acceleration

They aren't, the fall apart a lot faster.

The weight has some to do with it but not all of it. The stud config has a lot to do with it. The heal is a lot higher then most cleats, giving that downward slant (which is great for takeoff). The NikeSkin basically molds to your foot, giving you a better touch. Plus the texture of the NikeSkin is sorta sticky when it hits a ball, hence another feature of having a better touch. But you do notice a significant difference between a "heavy" boot and a "light" boot. There is only one draw back of having this light thin boot. First is the blisters when you first get it, the second is if you get stepped on or kicked. Otherwise I was nothing but satisfied with them. Ironically I'm not going to get a new pair but going after the old Air Zoom 90 II.

One of my friends is using the talarias and he believes that my Mania would fall apart faster than his.

I personally do NOT think that my mania would fall apart faster cause after all the punishment it took on the field, it is still in a very good shape.
